hengest have an Exalt for this pbp, this is fantastic! Ha, thanks, PD! I keep thinking it sucks because we haven't had mass combat yet. No hengest, it's great because it hasn't been fight, fight, fight, fight, and fight some more.

And if there's any praise to be given around here, The Semi-Retired Gamer deserves his share. I won't make much comment on this game (playtest!) as long as it's running, but I think it's safe to admit that Ethan has taken some actions I did not anticipate! Yeah, The Semi-Retired Gamer , deserves an Exalt too! Both of you are doing an incredible job. This is a Tour de Force. Much appreciated, The Perilous Dreamer!

I've been trying to wrap my head around Ethan and what he would do. Obviously, survival is a given so I'm trying to dig a little deeper.

Oh and regarding dealing with mindless bureaucrats when technology is not working like it should, I share your pain. I am reasonably computer literate for a 65 almost 66 year old, but some of these people just assume that everyone knows "that" and in fact only people under 25 or 30 reliably know "that." I also despise the notion that everyone has to have a smart phone or become a second class citizen. Old fingers have trouble with smart phones. My wife a few years ago wanted to take me to a pro basketball game for my birthday and you cannot get in the door unless you use your smart phone as the ticket, it is the only form of ticket they will take. So smart phone with an expensive data plan or you cannot attend a sporting event. They just lost me as a viewer, I rarely watch sports anymore.

Yeah, the idea that you have to constantly have combat is erroneous, but we all have been infected with that idea to a certain extent. People these days expect combat and think they are wasting their time if they don't get it. The way this is progressing is just a great example of how much fun you can have with minimal combat.

So smart phone with an expensive data plan or you cannot attend a sporting event. They just lost me as a viewer, I rarely watch sports anymore. This makes me crazy. I can sort of accept it as an option (public transit, concerts, sports), but as the only way? Come on. I always get a paper ticket for trains and planes (not like I travel so much now), not only to keep them from thinking everyone's just going to use a phone, but also because...I don't want to be worried that my "ticket" is going to malfunction or die on me. Come on. Who wants to go to all that trouble AND have to worry that their phone is going to blow up just before the ticket gets checked? Wouldn't anyone just rather stick the ticket in a book and know it's right there? That's bad enough, and what you describe is bad enough, but what The Semi-Retired Gamer mentioned recently is almost worse -- you're expected to use what actually doesn't work. I get it: times change. But at the VERY LEAST, you have to make the stuff work properly because you insist that people use it. Not to mention that the touchscreen smartphone, although familiar to many now, is hardly a user-friendly piece of tech. Virtual buttons on a facsimile keyboard that offers two thumbs a tiny area the layout of a mid-20th century typewriter designed for use with ten fingers? That's ridiculous. Ridiculous. If the things weren't so familiar by now and hadn't been pushed so hard by aggressive advertising, you'd look at them and say "No one's going to use this!" It's so awkward, it's like if someone told you "well, in 2022, to drive a car, you'll have to wear a bag over your head." Why? "Don't worry, the Bagmobile 6000 has extra solid-state memory!" What is this? Don't tell me about the great features if the interface, the very selling point of the whole line of devices, isn't designed with humans in mind. Go sell the thing to sea slugs or someone.

I asked for paper copies and they insisted I do it online. The most frustrating thing is that they had the important forms that just transferred from the 8th grade; birth certificate, proof of residence, etc. The forms they lacked were permission slips for field trips, the bus, to be taught about meningitis, and to be taught about HIV. Really? I couldn't have done physical copies of those forms? Reeeeeeeeediculous!

The Semi-Retired Gamer Maddening. Glad you got it out of the way, though. I don't remember things being this way when I was a kid. I brought something home and my mom signed it. That was the end. No logging in, no expired security certificates, no dead links...
