The way I heard it, the creator was in marketing and wanted to go out on his own. He was the original marketing directer of Image Comics. Their Spawn was outselling Batman and the whole line ended up selling millions and millions, he must have cleaned up. The books were not cheap.

I am ok with it if he did well, his work meant a lot to me in the 1980s and I can't imagine he made a killing on a B&W comic book about beans.  |
