Evenshine
Some days, as the sun sinks below the horizon and twilight begins, there is an odd feeling in the air. Once you feel it, you know it will be an evenshine night. If you look in the direction of the setting sun, a little while after it sets, a ripple of soft light rises from that spot and moves slowly throughout the sky. At first it moves like a true ripple, but usually breaks up into little whorls, waves, and rings that bounce about overhead, casting their unusual evenshine over the country. More light than twilight, but with a pleasantly chilly quality, a brisk light that welcomes only the softest shadows.

Seven-League Sight
At the bottom of the worn quarry face, there is an area where you see not the rock face that surrounds it, but a living scene from some twenty miles away: the view, plain as if you were there, from a high hill among many in the rolling country to the east. The "scene" faces in the direction of the rising sun, so the effect at dawn is striking as light pours from this area at the still poorly-lit bottom of the quarry.

Jasmine Falls
At the foot of a steep hill, at night, the cool mountain breeze brings with it the heavy scent of jasmine.

The Battle in the Sky
This phenomenon can be described only by repeating hearsay: a week ago, at night, many citizens were awakened by screeches, but no one could say of what bird. On looking outside, they found the sky over the city was filled with "shining men," "birds of fire," and / or "golden carts" rushing at each other in darting motions. A few minutes later, those still watching saw a few of the figures gather in one spot and then move at a moderate speed in the direction of the river. Those that remained vanished slowly or otherwise dispersed, accounts are confused.
