I watched The Wicker Tree earlier today. It's from the director of (the Christopher Lee version of) The Wicker Man. It's my understanding that rather than a sequel it's more like a spiritual successor or something like that. While I did enjoy it and I don't regret watching it but it's basically just The Wicker Man with some changes to the story. Instead of a Police Officer going to search for a missing person the main characters are two young missionaries (one male, one female) who go to spread the gospel. If you've seen The Wicker Man, you pretty much know how the rest of the story unfolds. Never seen the Wicker Man. This looks like it has some pretty dark stuff in it, is that correct? Wow! Honestly, it's been a LONG time since I saw it. I believe it may be hinted at but it's not graphic. All I can do is speak vaguely. It's been that long. 🙄

Netflix pulled me back in for a little while with season 4 of Stranger Things. I just started it and it looks to be awesome! I binged the first season (and I never do that), I think when I was sick, some years ago. I quite liked it. But I had no idea where they could have gone from there. Do they update the popular culture stuff as the kids get older?

I've finished volume 1 of Stranger Things season 4 and it was pretty awesome! Volume 2 doesn't start until July 1st so I started watching Cobra Kai season 4.

I am continuing to be really pleased with the Cobra Kai series. I will definitely watch Season 5 as it premiers in a few months. I did watch the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre from Netflix. If you're a fan of gore, it's got gore. It did do a pretty decent job of connecting to the original film but at this point can a new film really do anything fresh in this series?

I stumbled across THE DIRT on Netflix earlier today. It covers the rock'n'roll career of Motley Crue from how they formed until the return of Vince Neil as their singer. On a side note, I enjoyed the album with John Corabi and wanted more. Their story is a tale of excess in several areas of their lives. As good as the band was - even with all the substance abuse - they were even better when they all got sober. I wonder how much of it is Rock mythology and how much is true but the movie was entertaining.

struggling to get through the latest Dr. Strange. Not sure why, it just hasn't grabbed me despite Dr. strange being my all time fave as far as comic characters. Paused and have another chunk to struggle through...
As for Arnie's Conan, one of my absolute favorites. The Jason M version not-so-much.

I haven't tried the new Dr. Strange yet, but I dig the character. I liked the look of the Jason Mamoa Conan and the fact that they name dropped authentic locations that Howard used in his stories. I wish they had just gone all out and adapted one of the stories like Red Nails.

Outland has been on my watch list forever, but I never have gotten around to watching it. I'm going to make it a point to do so this weekend.

Never got into Firefly and never saw Outland. Probably should do something about that sometime... Oh man! Firefly is great!! You might want to google the viewing order. I only say this because when Firefly was being originally broadcast, FOX would pre-empt it so the episodes that got broadcast at their scheduled times were out of order. I would assume any DVD set would have that fixed but after all of these years the Narnia books aren't consistently boxed in the chronological order.

I'm currently watching The Burning. It shares many elements with the original Friday the 13th and is based on the Cropsey urban legend.

After having discussed it several times on this site, I noticed that SHUDDER added Planet of the Vampires to their movie list this weekend. Bravo for the suggestion, mao! The movie was really well done and even though it was done in 1965, the effects weren't goofy, and the story was good. I enjoyed it and wouldn't mind well done and faithful remake BUT it isn't necessary.

To me if you look at the Wilt Chamberlain character in the second Arnie movie. Scale him down to about 6'6" and make him just a bit more muscular and you have the physique. Then he has to have jet black hair cut like you see it in a lot of the comics and blue eyes. And a really chiseled face. And no thick accent like Arnie had at the time. He has to be quick and articulate.

I'm watching the new Resident Evil series on Netlfix. I am 4 episodes in on the 8-episode first season. It's definitely fair to say this series is "inspired by" rather than adapted from the video game franchise. I will give them big props for the monsters so far - caterpillar, dog, and licker especially - look much better than most of the previous movie versions. Back to the show.

Two BIG thumbs up on Outland, in fact it is my fav Sean movie. They only thing is it is not overly"sci Fi" but do not lt that deter you, It is great.. The only ep of Firefly I saw was te cattle stealing scene and that really tturned me off. Saw Serenity though and liked it.(Solid B-)

This one is certainly NOT going to be everyone's taste. I'm not even a fan of the band. I've heard of them over the years. I enjoy documentaries so I watched THIS IS GWAR. It was interesting learning about the formation fo the band and their challenges over the years. I doubt I'll ever buy a CD of theirs, but I don't regret watching the film.

I started watching Amerika. I'm currently on part 3. I miss the old "TV Special Events" that they used to have back in the 80s.
