I remember going to the FLGS with my buddies just to flip through the RIFTS books on the shelves. There was a ton of Palladiums' products in town and we never seemed to run out of books to check out when we would stop at Starbase 21. Palladium Fantasy had lured us in but RIFTS really latched on to our imagination. It's unfortunate that PB has had such a decline in recent years - all self inflected - but I miss the pipeline of books that would out before all the poor business choices caught up to them. Now I can't find a single FLGS that stocks their products. That's a shame. If they would update the system - mainly clarification and consolidation - and stick to a release schedule by focusing on RPGs instead of their side distractions then they would probably be in better shape; at least not have fallen out of favor so badly.
Anyway, I would play in a RIFTS campaign if I could get one together. I always enjoyed playing a Cyber Knight or a Mercenary. Maybe a group of Coalition soldiers that have gone rogue and deserted? Maybe join the fight against the Vampire Kingdoms? The possibilities truly are endless with RIFTS.
PB usually had great ideas, a great world, and a lot of enthusiasm. I just wish the execution (final product) matched more often than not. There have been numerous product delays and cancellations over the years. Unfortunately, they have turned a lot of people off over the years.
Anybody else a fan - whether former or current - of RIFTS?
Was there a particular OCC you liked the most?
Any cool stories?

I will say only that I had the core book, probably I saw an ad or something in the TMNT book (which I thought was awesome). I'm not sure what it would be like to look at it now, but way back then, that book was like a Jello-bomb that covered the machinery of my imagination with all kinds of cool stuff.

That's a great description! Exalt.

Never played it, but have looked at their stuff extensively and thought the whole RIFTS thing was a really cool idea, but I don't know anyone who played it.
