What age group is this kind of thing intended for?
On another note, I was raised on Hanna-Barbera and I cannot wrap my head around this kind of art in a cartoon.

We are what we know, I grew up on Bugs Bunny, Disney and the other old cartoons and the artistic quality was high in those days and pretty standard. The art these days is way different in cartoons and a lot of it I don't care for, but those tastes change from generation to generation based on what you see when you are young.

I would like to see more stuff done in the style of the original HEAVY METAL.

I got it, one of the smartest things I ever did, while I cannot get the program and the search software to run under Win 7 or 10, all the pdfs are accessible.

Hey, who cares if the search software works if the pdfs are accessible? THUMBS UP!

If you enjoyed Record of Lodoss War, there is a new spiritual successor out that may be of interest to you. I have yet to watch it, though I own Record of Lodoss War, Legend of Crystania and watched Rune Soldier - all set in the same world and created by Ryo Mizuno. As a fan of anime since the 80s (I am 49 as of the 30th - yesterday) I plan on watching it.

What age group is this kind of thing intended for? On another note, I was raised on Hanna-Barbera and I cannot wrap my head around this kind of art in a cartoon. Towards 18-40 year olds is the primary market for this kind of anime, the manga and light novels that often inspire them. Also understand these were created for the Japanese market first and foremost, so you have to take that into consideration. The Japanese create comics and animation for ALL age groups, though much of it is aimed at young boys & girls, though there is TONS of these kinds of shows for adults from action adventure, fantasy, sci-fi and even porn. I was also raised on Hanna-Barbera, Loony Toons, Disney and other American cartoons, that said as I got older I gravitated anime as my main source of animation, though I do love classics like Wizards, the Hobbit, LotR, Return of the King and Fire & Ice, as well as Heavy Metal.

Legend of Crystania is a movie + a three part OVA trilogy that deals with the ramifications of the film. Crystania is the name of the a continent of the Animal Gods, connected to the continent of Danarn in the southern hemisphere of the World of Forceria and is the location of the events of the Legend of Crystania. Rune Soldier is a more light hearted fantasy anime set in the same world on the largest continent in Forceria called Arecast/Alecrast. Lodoss is an island between Alecrast in the north and Crystania to the south. The world and stories were initial based on the creator's campaigns using AD&D, then RuneQuest and Tunnels & Trolls, until a Japanese TTRPG was developed for it called Sword World.

That fills in the gaps. I knew about the author's original campaign, Sword World, and Record of Lodoss War but now I need to track down those other shows.
