Late that night the ocean again entered Tristan's dreams: he tossed his bruised body and saw the black sky and immense rolling swells of the night watch, the rattling of an ice-stiffened foresail, and later the sky shot with stars too large to be stars.

Large Star Dream 

As you pass imperceptibly into sleep, you have the feeling that you are not losing sight of the nighttime world around you in the valley, but are waking up into the world just behind this one, the one you always felt without seeing.  This world is dark, darker than your own world at night, but the stars are brighter.  As you turn and look up at them, one grows larger and seems to approach you, becoming first a fiery ball, then a mass that expands in your field of vision until you can no longer see its edges and all is flickering white. As it closes around you and begins to swallow you up, you hear a voice, unaccountably sweet.
