and began his career as a missile-man instructor, then was allowed to fly small attack craft.
After the war he was put on reserve staff and was a staff flight instructor at a small city on
the coast. After 4 years he was called back to active duty and helped design a new launching
system for fighters and small craft and was assigned to a carrier. Then earning his nickname
"Jack" He went to a remote station and worked on new Vacc Suit designs. Finally he got to
be a XO and then Commander of Patrol Boat Squadron 7. Then was a Foreign Naval Attaché
and Commander of all Patrol boats before spending his last year as a instructor at the
naval college.
2 years into his retirement, his wife Helene died suddenly. He spent a year traveling around
in their mobile home before giving up and agreeing to be a gunner or engineer of the 9 Bells.
