Once in a while they will be found in adventuring parties but more often they have quiet live's in small villages.They are standard mages in all respects save 1: the spells they have memorized are very cantrip heavy (table to follow) Spells by level L1 12xcantrips L2 13x cantrips L3 14x cantrips, 1 first L4 13 x cantrips 2 First L spells L5 12 cantrips 2 first L spells, One second L spell L6 11x cantrips 3 first L spells two second L spells L7 10 cantrips 4 First Level Spells 2 second L spells, 1 3rd L spell This is as far as a hedge mage can advance

(I will eventually have more here but for now, this reminds me of the first section of Ursula LeGuin's A Wizard of Earthsea, am sure some on this board have read it.)

(I will eventually have more here but for now, this reminds me of the first section of Ursula LeGuin's A Wizard of Earthsea, am sure some on this board have read it.) I have read it, IMO parts of it are just excellent and IIRC a few parts of it made me go, "wait, what?" I may know what you mean. To me, the whole first section (before he goes to the wizards' school on Gont) was nearly perfect. I liked the whole book, but there were parts that did not seem in harmony with the (to my taste) really excellent opening.

It's been years since I've read it, but I do remember the early parts of the first book were AWESOME! I remember enjoying the trilogy and I like the Naming system of magic. I might have to read these again...
