One set of memories for one target is altered. Not the content, but the relationships between the elements, as well as between the set and the target's other memories, are severed. The result is that the target, on trying to access the information, finds that he has memories he no longer understands.
Example: a merchant maintains a mental map of sources and customers. Those in a certain city, or for a certain product, are a memory cluster. If targeted by the spell, the cluster remains but cannot be accessed usefully. The relationships between the images are ruined. The victim remembers the separate images but cannot make sense of the function together.
Range: Touch. Glancing touch sufficient if the caster knows what memory set to target. Touch the length of a handshake necessary if a psychic "rummage" is needed to locate something suitable.
