For all things Tékumel: Empire of the Petal Throne and for the Ultimate Tékumel: Empire of the Petal Throne resource go to the forum titled Chirine ba Kal. It is hands down the best site in the entire world to learn how to play Tékumel: Empire of the Petal Throne. No other living person knows more about Tékumel than the poster known as Chirine ba Kal. Note that the forum is hidden in its entirety to non-members. When you are accepted as a member read the rules of the forum before posting.

My biggest issue with Tékumel: Empire of the Petal Throne is all the words I cannot pronounce or even wrap my head around. THIS!!!!!! That is a hindrance to everyone that is not into learning foreign languages. Even back in college I knew three people who would set around and parse out how all the words were pronounced. They were all language majors and all just happened to know Latin and Greek among their languages.

Thank you The Perilous Dreamer for letting me know about Chirine ba Kal's site! That is a delight. I agree that pronunciation is a major issue. I had to deal with it by telling (my players even) something a mentor taught me, "The perfect is the enemy of the good". That seemed to end a lot of issues (for me at least). Otherwise EPT seems to be a love/hate kind of thing for people. There are free resources on the net to make it more accessible to us lay folk. If there's interest from anyone in those feel free to PM me. (In case I miss anything posted directly to this thread).

Yeah, that is an awesome forum, if you register, read the rules and abide by them. While they are great people, it would be best there to lurk and read for a while to get a good sense of how the board works before posting much. One you read the room, then you should be good.

If there's interest from anyone in those feel free to PM me. (In case I miss anything posted directly to this thread). You can post those links here in the thread as long as they are not pirated files. Staff cannot read any PM messages that they are not copied in. Our official position is that we do not condone or promote pirating of files. On the other hand you are all adults and can make your own decisions. Since many items are available only at collector prices or not at all, everyone has to make those decisions for themselves. There is no excuse for everything not being available at reasonable prices by POD or pdf these days. There is zero reason to sell things that were written 20 years or more ago at anything other than a reasonable price, aside from the collector market, which is what it is.

Since this is the section of the Net I like to hangout in I thought I would talk about being in an EPT game (using the EPT rulebook). Our GM is very cool, and she's very knowledgeable about Tekumel. (She studies Tsolyani in her spare time for fun!) So far our group of four has had sessions 0-2, and we have yet get in a fight. The interactions between the party and NPC's is actually more exciting for me than combat! I've read more through the years about Tekumel than the other players, and I was lucky enough in my Heritage roll (that is a house rule) that I started out in a Tsolyani clan! Gaming online (via Discord) has been a lot of fun for me, and I get to be a bit of a guide for our little group. Is anyone else playing in an EPT game? Has anyone else played a game set on Tekumel?

Well hengest , regarding Tekumel there's so much to say that I can't do it justice here! Here's a good link with lots of information: Tekumel and EPT backgroundAs far as our little group, we will have session six (?) tonight. We met when I journeyed to the dock, in a main city, and found some outlander barbarians (the other PCs). I offered them work in my employ (I'm from high clan). Our deal roughly means that I use my clan's influence to help them get citizenship, and they help my PC with following her agenda (I'm looking to aid my temple fight demons). We're already in over our collective heads, and only some good playing (and lucky rolling has kept said heads in place). If there's sufficient interest from the board, I could give more depth. We're using the mass market published Empire of The Petal Throne rules (I think Prof. Barker based them on OD&D, but with percentile die). There are a few house rules in effect, for example I was able to start as a Tsolyani citizen, of High clan status!

Well, here was something I really didn't expect! MAR Barker wrote a novel, Serpent's Walk, from a pro-Nazi point of view! Please check Wikipedia, and other sources for more detail. This will be the last time I will discuss the topic.
