Excalibur's scabbard, was said to have powers of its own. Injuries from losses of blood, for example, would not kill the bearer. In some telling, wounds received by one wearing the scabbard did not bleed at all. (Arthurian legend)

It has the properties listed, perhaps game-ified (you take normal damage but can't die from the wounds?), but there is also an equivalent negative side, perhaps healing magic does not work on you if you are the bearer of the scabbard.

Yeah, so that you heal at normal speed, so you take massive wounds, but then you are laid up for a year healing up and another year to get your strength back.

Again, I completely forgot about this, and I love it. Such an epic feel, appropriate to domain play or Pendragon or something like that. What a wild and deep idea.
