The art of Boris Vallejo

At the same time I discovered Frank Frazetta, I also discovered Boris Vallejo. I think the influence from Frazetta is quite tangible, but Vallejo has taken his style in a more photo-realistic direction and uses colouring in a different way. I love his work, and find it very inspirational.

And I think Boris Vallejo was the first actual fantasy art book I owned. I do not remember which it was, as I am no longer in possession. His, and Julie Bells, muscle-bound men and women really piqued my pubescent interests. Not to take away from the man's abilities: he is an amazing artist and has evoked a sense of wonder and desire to adventure in strange lands with beautiful people.
