Halo (also Nimbus, Aureola, Glory or Gloriole), is a ring of light that surrounds a person in art. They have been used in the iconography of many religions to indicate holy or sacred figures, and have at various periods also been used in images of rulers or heroes.
Artifact effects: This is a spiritual helm that is granted at times of great need to Paladins that are highly favored. Paladins who suddenly find themselves wearing this are surrounded by a ring of light of 15 feet radius of better than full sunlight and any evil aligned creature entering the ring of light takes 50 points of damage the first round and an additional 25 points of damage each round thereafter that they are in the light. It also completely stops all magic attacks at the edge of the ring of light. Missiles of any kind disintegrate at the edge of the ring of light. These effects last for 2 combat turns and Paladins are compelled to advance at double speed and attack ferociously. At the end of this time, the effect fades slowly and the Paladin must rest for an hour or operate at 1/3 normal until he is able to rest.
