So was this the "inspiration" for the movie Nobody with Bob Odenkirk? Or no? I've been wanting to see Nobody. From my best recollection, hengest , I believe one of the writers behind John Wick wrote Nobody or something like that. Would be interested to hear your take on Nobody if you get around to it. I'm so out of the loop on action movies, parodies, etc that I wasn't really sure what I was watching until the movie was at least half over, so I don't think I had the ideal experience. Overall it did seem watchable and entertaining, however, for what that's worth.

While the movies are similar, there is a subtle but significant difference in protagonist motivation. Wick starts out simply depressed and really isn't angry at anyone; the Bad Guys have to *work* at making him angry enough to decide to kill them. In contrast, Odenkirk's protagonist Hutch starts out carrying a LOT of suppressed rage about his stagnant marriage and failings as a father. This is only exacerbated when - in order to maintain his cover as a mild-mannered suburbanite - he must meekly allow a burglar to get away scot-free. Hutch is actually out looking for a fight when (as depicted in the trailer) he encounters those lowlifes on that bus. Somewhat cleverly, this encounter proves to be the flip side of the Wick situation, in that it's Hutch who has picked the wrong outlet for his rage. Not because Hutch loses the fight, but because of who the father of the lowlifes' leader turns out to be. Watch the movie to find out more.

I'm going to track this down this weekend.

I enjoyed (and rewatch) both properties. I heard a rumor of a cross-over story, no idea of the truth of that. Been a Keanu fan for a long time. Really enjoyed Bob in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Love the fact that Christopher Lloyd is in Nobody, he is a great character actor!

Last weekend was really busy with softball and OT so I forgot about looking for it but I'm going to try to find Nobody at the used video store, redbox, or somewhere this weekend...
