I've never been happy that almost every player picks long sword and greatsword, so I made a special chart to make them more unique. I use this in OSR and Pathfinder. I use 20 only as crit threat(Pathfinder speak),double damage. dagger +2 to hit, D4 damage short sword +1 to hit, d6 damage long sword, threatens critical(see below) on 19-20, D8 damage battle axe, ignores one Damage resistance( some monsters have resistance to damage in the form of knocks damage off before you do actual damage)(scale at higher L?) D8 damage Mace, 0ne damage on a miss(Scalable?) D8 damage (Ok , should prob only be vrs Metal armor but not looking for that kind of complexity) spear D6 damage, d12 damage vrs large creatures great sword 2d6 damage military pick d6 damage, x3 damage( triple dice damage) on crit(20) great axe D10 damage, +3 to confirm crit ( in pathfinder if you roll a 20 you then reroll your attack and if you hit the targets AC, you get a critical multiplier) quarterstaff(2 handed) D6 damage +1 bonus to AC (to the better) Etc. Do people really do that? Just pick swords and ignore everything else? I have only played solo, so I mix it up as part of keeping it interesting. I just assumed that people who get to play with others would do that too. I like what you have done here. Looking forward to reading down the page and see how you tweaked these.

OkThe first change I am making is that these are the stats for masterwork weapons. this will allow you to control it better , they will be uncommon put availble for a price(10X)This will allow me to use more leeway that otherwise would have been unbalanced( actully toned this down from original), The first weapon I am doing this with is the Battle Ax, it now can hit things that you need silver for Now that is an interesting idea, allowing a masterwork Battle Ax to function as silver to hit things. Will they also do damage to Lycanthropes? Enough to make the Lycanthropes avoid them?

Next up is the quarter staff, it does a d6 and ads 2 to AC, must be used 2 handed and yes I want to make this encountered often in the bad guys, most notable in true goblins and chaos ratmen. This is by far the most common weapon of Armour World Tell me what is a true goblin? What is a Chaos Ratman?

I am going to remove all Pathfinder stuff for critical Threat, Making a roll of 20 to hit a critical automatically. How do you run criticals?

I am totally alright w the idea that all of these make little sense. I am attempting to make them balanced against each other, that is my primary goal I think changing them up makes perfect sense.

Mace is a tough one, I like the idea that it does damage on a miss but can't narrow that down I am unhappy w the way it is written. this will be the last one redone. mao, for your mace how about this. I if you miss the target number by no more than two (need a 15 to hit and roll a 13 or 14) then you do half damage. You could extend that to hammers and other impact weapons. In fact because of the effect of maces and hammers on anything other than full plate, heavily padded, you could also give maces and hammers a +2 or +3 to hit against everything except heavily padded full plate.

When you guys posted on me doing everything here that I have changed to: I hated the idea, now that I am doing this this way I love it. If you guys want me to do other threads like this just point and clik. mao, you should do all threads like this, when you revise make a new post, but leave the original post untouched so we can see what you did. I think you should use that every place. You could always have a place for fully finished work where you only post the fully revised and "complete" stuff.

Great Axe: Changed to d10 damage.cuts though 2 points Of DR( damage resistance, many of the monsters are going to have this,Stops damage by x where x is a number between 1 and 4) Have you detailed your Damage Resistance mechanic somewhere and how it works with Armor Class?

I've never been happy that almost every player picks long sword and greatsword, so I made a special chart to make them more unique. all do double damage on a 20. One handed Melee dagger +2 to hit, D4 damage short sword +1 to hit, d6 damage long sword, double damage on 19-20, D8 damage broad Sword 2d4 best damage for one handed weapon. battle axe, hits creatures you need silver to hit D8 damage mace, 0ne damage on a miss(Scalable?) D8 damage (Ok , should prob only be vrs Metal armor but not looking for that kind of complexity) spear and pole arms D6 damage, 3D4 damage vrs large creatures Two handed melee great sword 1D12 damage military pick d6 damage, triple dice damage on crit(20) great axe D10 damage, Reroll every attack on a 20 you do one extra dice damage quarterstaff(2 handed) D6 damage +2 bonus to AC (to the better) 2 handed Wow, double damage on a 20 that is pretty powerful. Oh in regard to the mace, it would do the most damage against leather or no armor and then next most against chainmail, because chainmail has to be pretty well padded to wear in the first place and then least against plate. Plate unlike leather or chainmail will really spread the impact out over a larger area.

I just thought of a cool piece of fluff that goes w this. Because daggers are inherently +2 to hit, they are very rarely encountered in magic form, the only enhancement that is seen at all is a bonus to damage. I really hope I can come up w more of these. We do too, have an exalt!
