I like to use a lot of Judeo-Christian tropes.

I am a shameless appropriators. Not really a mythos, my campaigns tend towards that of Glen Cook's Black Company series. A big bad god-like evil behind the scenes directing the actions od demigod like beings to influence the goings on in the campaign.

Nothing wrong with being an appropriator, but only as long as you are shameless about it. If you are going to steal Glen Cook's Black Company series is a good place to start. You should post your game summaries simrion.

For Fantasy: My first love is David A. Hargrave's Arduin, then it's a toss up between M.A.R. Barker's EPT/Tekumel and Glorantha.
For Sci-fi: Metamorphosis Alpha, and the Morrow Project.

I go with historical and literary sources. I select based on traits, for instance some xenophobic cultures are fun to throw into the mix.
