Planet Eris is Jimm Johnson's ( austinjimm) original edition campaign setting. He has produced an excellent "old school" house rules document. It is of the style that I like to call "retro-supplement," meaning, a campaign specific document that is not a complete game in itself but, like the original TSR supplements, assumes the continued use of the LBBs. The rules are influenced by his own previous thorough knowledge of 1e through play and refereeing of the same and also the first of the "retro clones" when they first started coming out, especially Swords and Wizardry. I have been playing in his campaign for about two years now and I have been serving as a referee for about a year. I am going to be inviting all the referees to join our forum here and contribute to discussion concerning Jimm's house rule's and campaign setting. I will answer questions and add to the discussion as best I can and other voices will help me in that regard. Jimm is really busy working on some old school publications and that is consuming his time, but he promises to join us . . . someday! ("Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!") Here are some other resources he has made available for playing in his campaign world: Character Record SheetCharacter Creation GuideMarching OrderSession ChronicleRetainer Record Sheet
Discuss and Enjoy!

I had a quick look through the campaign supplement. It looks very well done, I have downloaded it and will take a closer look.

Hell YES! Planet Eris is the gold standard. I found it a while back but I'm glad it is here on these forums also. I look forward to hearing more.

Hey Tetramorph! I enjoyed adventuring on Planet Eris with you today and joined this forum on your recommendation! It was good to return to Eris after an absence of several years. Jimm has done a great job on the setting.

Hope to see you around more -- and on the boards.
Be sure and post an intro in the introduction thread under general as well.
Peace

Cool then you 2 aren't far from me I'm in San Antonio Good ol' San Antonio. I bought my first OD&D boxed set in SA at a record store in the mid-1970's. Some time later a gaming shop opened up on IIRC Fredericksburg Road just south of the Crossroads Mall. I wasn't in SA often but I would always drive by there when I was in town.

I happened to get lucky and found mine OD&D set in a used bookstore about 15+ years ago. How is the OD&D scene in Austin?

OD&D is alive and doing well. This is thanks, in no small part, to austinjimm and the gamers sitting around his table. Planet Eris is so much fun that, though I've considered restarting my Shattered Lands campaign? I'm enjoying being a player too much to bother with it.
