Hi everyone. During this time I'm playing my WFRP 1st ed. campaign, like I've been doing for many years, but some friends have asked me to play D&D, it's a great opportunity to start a short campaign! I'm going to use this module, that I own. I don't want to devote myself slavishly to the setting and to all the information that has been published over the decades, it's not my goal, and I don't love the Forgotten Realms very much. I would like to propose a light game of exploration, with the possibility to explore the map, the woods, the mountains, the ruins and the villages as the players like it. I would like to prepare some tables of casual encounters, dungeons (I don't know if and how many I will create from scratch and how many I will take from the modules ...) and a very brief description of each village or place of interest. So, I'll improvise a lot. I chose this setting because I would like to be inspired by the Eastern European element: Teutonic knights colonizing a hostile land, hordes of barbarians riding from the east, cold and low population density. I will partly retouch the history of the setting, making the cities crusader foundations. I will not use hexagons, so the displacement on the map will take place with a measurement. I still don't know if I'll use OD&D or BEC (without MI). The second choice would give me the possibility of having more monsters available, clearer and more numerous material. I read "Quest for the Silver Sword" and I think I will use it as an introduction (SPOILER: An adventure where you have to save a city of the eternal winter carried by wicked rat-men inside an abandoned fortress). Do you think my project is valid? Any advice? Feedback? I'm always very anxious! Here the map of Bloodstone Lands matthewfenn.ipage.com/nj-pbem/data/Maps/BloodstoneLands/MapOfTheBloodstoneLands.htmThanks and greetings to all.

You can use OD&D and import monsters from virtually anywhere, so if you want to use the BEC(sans MI) monsters you can.

Thanks to you all guys, I hope to be able to play soon, for now I'm a little busy with an academic work (my history thesis about dungeons & dragons, I just started it, I could talk about it in another thread, if you're interested). Ah, I bought The Keep on the Borderlands yesterday, I consider it a classic very suitable for my campaign. It will arrive by mail soon!

I'm on my last stages of my PhD, too. It's History but not D&D related (Roman and Germanic religion). Need a holiday now though.

Sorry for the very late response. Have had some hectic months of work (precisely partially on my thesis) so I've got little time to visit and read several boards and sites of my preference, including this one.
Concerning my thesis, it should be finished by the beginning of 2020. I'll try to post something on that at some point, although I don't know if a post on it would be in topic with these boards.

Yes, personal achievements are on topic!

Good. Then at some point I'll try to make a summary of the stuff. It's religion in the German provinces of ancient Rome, so something can be used for a D&D campaign, I guess.
