Back when the OSR gaming renaissance started a few high profile bloggers believed that their best games were behind them. This actually made me a bit sad; I guess that I just don't think that way. In regards to my hobby, I am always looking forward. Every year I feel that I am a bit better than the year before, and I'm always adding things to my game and evaluating what works and what doesn't. I don't feel that the games that I ran when I had more time to game were better than the ones that I run now. Just the opposite.
I like to ask this question from time to time to hear what others think. Are your great games all in the past?

I guess it depends on how you look at it. Will I ever again have a group of 30 friends all living in the same dorm who play or just hang out and watch twice a week, every week, who have the time and energy to play 20-24 hours every week, who are the same age as I am and are committed to just running with it and having fun? Will I ever again, have the energy and the rapidity of thought and the sharp hearing and vision I did then? Well, no.
On the other hand I have something I did not have 44 years ago, I have a reservoir of knowledge to use for ideas that is an ocean compared to a mud puddle back then. I have all of my experiences and I still have my childlike sense of wonder that I bring to the game. I have all that I have gained from the web over the last 12 years.
So in my view the best is yet to come and if I live to a "ripe old age," I believe that I will still feel that way about it. Some things you only have your memories, the time has passed and you cannot go back, but other things you can still create new memories and move forward, so I always believe tomorrow will be better than today, I refuse to believe anything else.
So, no, I do not believe all my great games are in the past, I believe there are a lot of great games in the future.

I have been playing for years and I always look forward to the next game. I always surprise the players and they always surprise me and fun was had by all.

There are the people who think their best is behind them and then there are those of us who are like fine wines, aged to perfection, always getting better. Which is a more fun way to live? Which view keeps you young and with a zest for life? I am for more zest!

about a 1/2 year before I ended my game, I felt I had run one of the best stories that I ever had. It was followed by a very lazy (as far as DMing goes) dungeon crawl. I don't know which points to my future(and I'm not particularly interested in finding out).
