Mine would be the riverboat interrogation of a Cultist mook by my players. The players were trying to get info out the mook they captured while on a river boat. Because one of the players used a similar magical item that allowed him to fly like a bat. So the mook was convinced this was a ploy to prove his devotion to his god & loyalty to the Cult. The Roleplay was funny, the players trying various things to try to convince the mook to give up info but he was unwilling to do so. Though he was a Cultist he was a minor guard who was more interested in the gold & quite dim, so he could've been convinced or charmed into giving the players the info but they never tried. I had a great time playing that nameless npc. There was a similar situation in the same campaign where they were in Gradsul and had been attacked by some lowly wererats, which were not much of a threat - or at least they ended up not being so (may have me not running them right). Anyway, they were killed and reverted to their human forms and the group decided to drop them into the sewers but they were caught by the town guard. I had a blast roleplaying this arrogant Guard leader who was convinced that he had witnessed the attempted disposal of a few murdered citizens. It took the use of a candle of truth to exonerate them. The only reason they were not attacked was the guard leader was a coward & the guard troop was smaller than the PC group & one of the PCs served on the Keoland Guard and had been stationed in Gradsul so was known.

Ok this requires a bit of background:
Mid 80s saw the pc's ,when I went to collage, at one point had a near genicide of goblins. The goblin race was dropped to one mom and her 2 sons.
50 years later there were several goblin village, most notably the tribe of Chief Biznessman. They had established a strong hold in an old ruined city and set up trading post and "hotel" for adventurers who had come to kill the giant swamp sloths(Their meat is highly prized"+2 Meat").
Interaction w Chief Biznessman were hysterical as he held off the far less co-operative tribe members. All The Chief wanted was good relations w adventures so the goblins could reclaim their territory. The pCs were 3rd or 4th level so the random goblinn attacks of 3-4 goblins was no threat as they stayed in the "hotel' w the Chief filled w apologies.

I would say that we, as a group of players, prefer Role-Playing to hack and slash. We always did. I mean, we don't do the funny voices, and we aren't thespiens but dialog has always kept the game interesting for us.
