When Emiya mentions food, Peng puts down his almost-empty bottle and heads over to the food processor, commenting over his shoulder as he goes, "No worries, E. Or you other two folk, either. We aren't so poor that we can't spot fellow spacers a meal or three, even if they don't sign on."[Internal Thought]Is E sure she's hungry? 'Cause it sounds like she's having trouble digesting that dictionary she swallowed, given all the words she keeps burping up . . .[/Internal Thought] "Much appreciated Peng, I skipped lunch as I was too busy searching for a new crew to join going deeper into this sector. Normally I keep my food intake up as I tend to lead an active life. My old crew's cook was a wiz at battlefield cookery. I'll miss his food but it was time to move on.", replies Emiya as she looks like she is a bit saddened by not being with her old crew. She plays with her dreads for a bit before she takes another swig of her beer. "Takheal and Tokheletoi good to meet you both" as she bows her head a bit towards them. "I'll tell you about my blade at a later time. The only thing I'll say for now is what I told Peng there, it was a marriage gift from my betrothed at 15 summers", she continued.

Lets say it wasn't my choice and the marriage was very short lived. But that is all I'll say about it to folk I barely know", replies Emiya seems noticeably uncomfortable about the continuing the discussion of the subject. "What brings you to the ship? Looking for a chance to explore the Mantan Sector like me?", she continues soon after breathing deep to collect her thoughts.

As he dishes out the common meal, Peng watches the byplay among the three newcomers . . .
[Internal Thought]The Aslan I sorta get. They're always looking for new land. But this Emiya seems to be spoilin' for a fight . . .[/Internal Thought]
Addressing his audience generally, Peng ventures, "I for one will be right happy if this trip doesn't end up killin' me. I signed on to make some cred and the danger pay oughta yeild that. Way I figure it, crewing this boat is no more dangerous than the usual chances of runnin' into pirates along the edge of nowhere."

Peng nods at the new arrival . . .
[Internal Thought]How'd I move from gunner to steward? Gonna definitely ask Raven for a pay bump . . .[/Internal Thought]
"What you havin'?" he asks, a faint tone of resignation in his voice.
[OOC: Peng is naturally Lazy, but as the only "native" present, he feels obliged to continue offering hospitality.]

Tokheletoi nods in greetings to the humans as they are introduced. "Charlie Lin, it is good to meet you. It is good to have a good female navigating. Efficient Jumps and normal space courses can save time and money."
She glanced with disinterest at the display of knives. Such things were male toys and of little importance in the here and now as they established their place in this pecking order. Tokheletoi trusted Takheal to handle such boring details. Still it was polite to address the warrior even if another male. "Emiya, I am pleased to meet you as well. Takheal will be pleased to have another male to discuss blades and weapons I am sure."
"Thank you for the offer of the beer Peng but business first." Tokheletoi did glance around though. "Perhaps if we complete our negotiations we would be delighted to share a beer and meal with you."
"Takheal is right, we seek lands and prosperity for our clans and ourselves that we might found our own corporation and family."
OOC: Catching up, sorry guys!

Tokheletoi didn't notice the odd expression from Charlie. To her the natural order was that all navigators were female and any oddities among these human aliens was beyond her notice. Having been out among humans for a year, Takheal immediately notices that Tokheletoi's gender assignments are inaccurate. To tell her now would be an insult, so he smiles and says nothing. Besides, he had made the same assumptions until he learned about the humans.

In response to Charlie's request, Peng points at the food processor and says, "There's a list of basic codes taped to the cabinet above it. I'm partial to 973, pastrami on rye with horseradish mustard and swiss cheese."
Glancing down at his pajamas, Peng scratches his cheek then with a shrug replies, "I'm pretty sure I got these at MallMart, the day after the last sequel came out. You'd probably have to get a set fabbed up special these days, though. Assumin' you found someone with an IP license or a good grey market source."
[OOC: I'm going to assume that the female Aslan's comments were interspersed into the conversation at the appropriate points in-game . . .]
Once everyone has been taken care of (or are taking care of themselves in Charlie's case), Peng resumes his seat and - with a fresh bottle of beer - begins to eat his sandwich.

[OOC: Well, the way I do it is as follows: I quote the post as normal. But once the "Create Post" screen comes up, I choose the "BBCode" option (tab in the bottom left corner). This converts the post from HTML to basic text, with all the commands revealed. I then go through the post and put in several hard returns (blank white lines) where I want to add in my character's words/actions. Then I go back up to the top of the post and copy the very first bit that's in brackets, which IDs the original poster that I'm quoting. I paste this at the beginning of each separate portion of the original post, then manually add the End Quote Command - "[ / quote ]" but without the spaces - to the end of each separate portion. Then I go back through and add in my own material. If there are multiple layers of nested quotes, it gets more complicated, because I have to be careful to copy/paste the correct beginning ID. If more than three different characters are involved (mine and three or more others) I generally go back up thread and quote a less-complicated version, then open a second (or third) tab and use it to quote/snip material for the additional characters, porting this over to my actual reply. THEN - before using the "Create Post" button - I use "Preview" to make sure my deconstruction of the nested post actually says what I want it to say. If I've screwed up (which happens often) I return to BCCode mode and figure out what went wrong. This is most usually a matter of me either forgetting to add in one or more manual End Quote commands or simply mistyping the command. I am forever misspelling "quote" as "qoute."]

"How about centicred stakes, with a quartercred ante?" Peng offers.
Rising from his sandwich, he goes over to the built-in cabinets that ring the common room and - after a moment of opening and closing various sections - triumphantly produces a rather battered and stained but still usable deck of playing cards. Returning to his table, Peng starts to shuffle the cards with fair dexterity, as he looks around to see who else (besides Charlie) is going to take up his offer.

OOC: I was hoping Raven would do the interviews and get everyone hired, but Mighty Darci seems to be posting rarely these days. Blackjack Miller is waking up so he can handle that end of things as well as buying any of Thazar's shares that the rest of you don't buy.
As for Thazar's "negotiations" over the sale of his ship shares, I wasn't planning to do that in character. If you've got the cash and want to buy in he'll sell. As for price,
Roll 2d6 + Broker or Gambling > 7
for anyone who is looking to buy, and I'll tell you what the best price you were able to get from Thazar was.
As Peng and the new folks are playing cards in the Wardroom a tall man limps into the room. Peng recognizes Blackjack Miller, the ship's majority owner, who has been in an AutoDoc recovering from wounds up until now.
"I'd kill for a cup of joe!" the man rumbles in a deep voice as he pours a black fluid from a pot into a large dirty mug and takes a swig.
Noticing the card players he says with a grin, "Ha'penny, you old dog, who have we here?"

Tokheletoi stood and listened to the conversation as they waited for the owner or the owner's representative to come and speak to them. She ignored the offer to gamble and instead asked Takheal. "Have you made an assessment of the armament and other military capabilities of this vessel? We must be able to defend our cargo and passengers as well as carry them."
When the new man came half staggering into the wardroom Tokheletoi looked him over carefully. "I am Tokheletoi and this is my business partner Takheal. We seek to buy shares of your ship as well."
OOC Broker 2. I'm not sure if admin would help in a negotiation as well.

"This is a civilian ship, and a small one. It has no armor, and only two turrets. It will stand off anything its own size, but any hit would cause serious damage." Takheal lowers one ear in a gesture of resigned acceptance. "Given what it is, I think it is acceptable."
