A few hours after the crew returns to the Clear Sails Thazar seeks out Raven, takes her aside and has a quiet conversation with her.
"Raven, I've decided I need to resign from the ship." he tells her plainly, "I can't count the number of times I've been shot at since joining the ship and this isn't the first time I've actually been shot! I just tired of it all! I wasn't for taking this cruise into unknown and unexplored territory when Blackjack proposed it and I'm even more opposed to it now."
"I think it would be best for all concerned if I simply leave the ship." Thazar scratches where his skin is still healing from the recent gun shot, "I would wait until you find a Navigator and Co-Pilot to replace me, but where you're going you're not likely to find one and I'd have a very hard time getting back to civilization from there even if you did."
"Once Blackjack is out of the Autodoc I'm going to tell him this and arrange for him to buy my interest in Clear Sails. Unless you'd like to buy my 20% interest now? I want 1,000,000 credits cash for my 20%."
OOC: In case anyone forgot, Raven owns 10% of the ship, Thazar owns 20% and Blackjack Miller owns 70%.

Since the party came back and Blackjack was put into the Autodoc, Lois (the Delgado Factor) has remained by his side.
You all heard her ream Baltus out for letting Blackjack get hurt and she's had a gimlet eye on the Doctor, the Autodoc, and anyone else that comes into Sickbay.

Emiya asks, "Where should I stow these sub-machine guns I took from the curs that ambushed you?" She then puts down her gear before taking a seat while she waits for the crew to deal with their wounded, so she can discuss the possibility of joining the crew.

OOC: One of the things the deckplans don't have is a ship's locker. What I'm going to say is that the Locker is a small area off the Bridge but not marked on the plans. Passenger luggage is stowed in the forward cargo bay...somewhere or other.
Emiya is going to have to talk to Raven, as Blackjack is unavailable for a couple of days.

Gil will finish securing the ATV and setting it up to refuel before heading off to shower and do some poking around with his sources to see if he can get any information that might indicate that the attack was more organized than the security guards let on. He's a bit suspicious that something is amiss due to some event or events that might have occurred at Leroy's. If he turns up anything, he will confer privately with Raven to share what he's found.

Peng is privately convinced that the fellow Blackjack confabbulated with just before leaving Leroy's [although it's doubtful that he's actually named "Leroy"] was behind the attack, but he doesn't see any way of taking the guy down a peg, short of straffing his bar as they leave for orbit. Just on the off-chance that this course of action is in the offing, Peng decides to make sure his turret is in tip-top shape before lift-off.
Hmmm. If I were to time it *just* right - just as the thrusters kick into high gear - I wonder if anyone would notice me charging the turret capacitors? Their thump and whine *should* get lost in the general cacophony.

[OOC: Peng makes sure the new person's firearms are locked up along with everyone else's shooting irons, before he goes to his turret. Pretending to help them at that ambush would be a FINE way for a hijacker to come aboard, after all . . . just saying . . . ]

Captain Raven is now focused on getting off this planet and out of the system without anything beyond the minimum possible contact with the local authorities. So she is determined that the leave at the earliest possible moment.
Captain Raven seeks out Lois (the Delgado Factor) to inquire if they have anymore local business to take care of before they leave?
Captain Raven checks with Gil, to let him know to let in a supply of ammo for the recently acquired machine guns and to let her know if he hears any chatter while he is doing that.
Captain Raven then seeks out Emiya saying, "I think it is time we had that chat, thank you by the way for your timely assist."
"So, I understand, you are looking for a position? So tell me a little about yourself and what other skills you bring to the table, besides your now obvious combat skills?'

Upon his return to the ship, he approaches the Captain privately and asks, "Captain, given the recent turn of events, may I assume that we need to have a high alert launch?" He will also share any information that he's managed to turn up. Gil acquires ammo for the SMG's with no problem. There is a weapon section of the Company's Chandery (shop for ship supplies) that sells this model of SMG and ammo for them. Magazines of 30 rounds cost 20 cr each. Gil picks up rumors about a "shoot out" last night that didn't go well for a local gang. The locals think it's somewhat funny because the villains were a bunch of wannabes were a bunch of rank amateurs. He also hears that Leroy Thomas is pissed off that he lost a bundle last night, but he's saying "It's all part of the business." Leroy is rumored to have said that he doesn't intend to do anything other than make it back on all the suckers that think they can do as well. Gil learns that there are a number of spacers here on Elati looking for a ship. Not many ships other than Company owned come here and they seldom need new employees or offer working passage.

OOC: Okay a set up post for Terry and JR...and Matt if he gets here soon. Heads up Chuck, Gil is here, too!
Terry IG: Charles Lin is in the bar he frequents called Leroy's Bar & Grill having a beer. He has been leaning against the bar covertly watching a big, and he means big, cat-like alien seated at a table across the bar. Charles has never met an alien that looked like this before, hasn't even heard of one that looks like this. This one has been seated quietly since he came in about 20 minutes ago with a bowl of a white liquid in front of it. Every once in a while the creature raises the bowl to his lips and takes a drink. Charles can't be sure, but it sort of looks like it's more of a lap than a sip, but he can't be sure unless he outright goes over and takes a look.
It's been almost a month that Charles has been on Elati cooling his heels. He jumped ship here because his old ride was heading back coreward to where there were a few folks that were looking for him. Folks that meant him harm.
Charles still had a big balance on his card, so he could afford to hang here for quite a while, but the longer he did the more likely one of those folks looking for him might look here. So, Charles was looking for a ride out into the unexplored Mantan Subsector.
A ship called The Clear Sails had landed here yesterday and the rumors Charles has heard says that it's chartered to ferry some traders deep in the Mantan. To him that sounds like a ship he needs to hitch a ride on. The only thing he hasn't settled on is whether he'll use the name and papers for Charles Lin when approaches her Captain or use some other name and papers.
JR IG: Weaayolikhi'elrakhyuwelalreahteaieikhahi'ausikiyoihkeiloiei'ei, or Takheal to everyone outside his clan, is frustrated. He and his traveling companion have been stuck here on Elati now for two weeks. They need to find a ship out of here! Yes, he still has a fat pouch filled with the human credits, but they kept getting eaten away...he has taken to dreaming about walking through a forest of hands all stretched out reaching for his pouch. This bowl of Kumis he has been nursing cost fifteen whole credits, ridiculous! One of the human beers only costs a credit or two, why should fermented poni milk cost so much more?
There's a human over at the bar who's been covertly giving Takheal the eye for the last few minutes. Probably just curious, not meaning to be rude or challenging, but still... If that man wants to meet Takheal in friendship or in challenge the polite thing to do would be to come over and say it plainly, not stand over there and sneak eyes at him.
Takheal had heard from a man earlier that a new ship, not owned by The Company, was in port. He supposed they should try to get passage on it to wherever it was going...working passage...if not a signed crew. He worried about his pouch and its growing flatness, not like back among the clan where all that was taken care of by females.
Takheal wondered when she would get here. It was probably worse for her, this not having a job that brings in credits, as that was what a female valued most. Maybe she was out getting them a job, maybe with that Clear Sails ship? He shifted uncomfortably on the chair made for humans and raised his kumis to his mouth flicking the sweet beverage with his tongue. Strange name that, what did a star ship have to do with sails?
Chuck IG: Gil was a bit concerned about going to Leroy's after what happened between there and the Main Dome last night, but HE wasn't here last night and nobody should connect him with Blackjack and the crew of The Clear Sails. While he is out looking for info he figured coming to the root of the problem might be a good idea, and it has been as he learned that Leroy himself was saying Blackjack's big win would be good for business and he wasn't likely to have been behind the ambush nor to be a problem in the future...unless BJ made a habit of trying to break Leroy's bank.
Now seated at a small table along the wall of the bar in Leroy's, Gil is drinking a beer, and eating a late lunch of Cricetin and chips, Gil is just looking around. The bar is more than half empty, but there are a couple of interesting characters: a man leaning on the bar who keeps glancing at the other interesting character, a big cat-like alien sitting at a table lapping some sort of white beverage. Gil has heard from some of the folks he'd been chatting with today that the cat guy was one of a pair and that they were looking for work on a ship. Like everybody else, Gil has never seen anything like them before and he wonders what they are called and where they are from...and how the hell did they got here?
Maybe they are from somewhere in Mantan? Maybe they'd be a good source of information about where The Clear Sails is headed? Maybe he should check this cat out?

Takheal sighed and set the drink aside. Too much of it would make his stomach hurt later, and he needed to stay healthy. Patience was something dearly won to most of his brothers, and his was wearing thin. It was important that he maintain his decorum, for the female he had been paired with had a tongue nearly as sharp as her claws. She had been assigned to him three months ago, when he had announced his intention to "go see the universe", as his father had put it. She was from another vassal clan, like his own, and that made establishing a working relationship that much more difficult. He was not so arrogant that he would try to make his own way without her, although he was better versed in the ways of finances and such than many of his peers. He huffed in frustration, and lifted the kumis to take another drink.

I've traveled many places but I have never encountered anyone like you and I would grateful if you could tell me of your people." Takheal sets his bowl aside and turns to the human male, if he was reading the person's physical characteristics correctly. With humans, it was sometimes difficult to discern their gender, he'd learned. He smiles with his lips tightly closed, as he had learned is appropriate when one wished to be non threatening. Takheal is not physically imposing, being about the size of a normal human male. He wears loose shorts with an apron of some heavy material, hung from a wide belt around his waist. A webbed vest holds several pouches and what appear to be metal emblems attached to the webbing. His body is covered in dense, medium grey hair, trimmed in black on his head and around his feline muzzle. His triangular ears swivel and lift to point at Gil, and his intensely green eyes gaze at the human with open curiosity. "I am Takheal, of the Star Walker clan. Tell me your name?"

OOC: Just a couple of comments and question for Chuck, JR and Terry. Elati has an atmosphere that requires a filter mask if you go outside. Buildings generally have airlocks to the outside rather than doors, so you don't have to wear your filters indoors. You three are at a gambling casino/restaurant/bar called Leroy's Bar & Grill. It is roughly 1.5 km from the Main Dome and is out in the Law 0 non-Company controlled territory. Leroy has a "no firearms" policy and collects all weapons at the front hatch to his establishment. You wouldn't have firearms on you, nor obviously knifes, swords, etc. You might have a pocket knife or boot knife, if you sneaked them through. The question is, did you attempt to sneak any weapons through when you came in? I know Jr's character has his dewclaw so he probably didn't attempt to bring any weapons in with him, feeling the dewclaw would do for any trouble in here. So the questions is really for Chuck and Terry. This doesn't mean an attack is imminent nor does it mean one is not. Just a heads up on where you are and the house rules for this place.

"Captain Raven Firestorm, I am Emiya Ebonblade. I'll wait for Mr. Miller so we can discuss my employment once he is able to do so. Captain, is there a chance I can use your facilities - where would they be? Also where can I stow my gear until things have gotten settled?", says Emiya in reply. see the bold above. [OOC: Noted, thanks.I can't believe I missed that - Derp!]

OOC: Okay a set up post for Terry and JR...and Matt if he gets here soon. Heads up Chuck, Gil is here, too! Would it be possible to set up a separate thread for these outside-the-ship introductions? I - for one - was rather confused to find this post here!

Peng quietly goes about researching the moment during a liftoff when the sounds and vibrations peak within the ship's hull, then proceeds to tell his gunnery console to set up a macro command that will automatically synchronize the priming of his cannon's capacitors with this sequence . . .
Of course, this will all be useless if Leroy's doesn't pass into my turret's acquisition window during lift-off. But I figure there's a roughly 50% chance of that happening, given our usual flight profile. And of course, someone might order me NOT to fire. But I figure we owe that guy at least one parting shot.
While his console processes his instructions, Peng calls up a recent aerial shot of the neighborhood from the starport database and starts looking for the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning) machinery servicing the outlying bar . . .
I figure we probably already killed most of Leroy's bully boys and I certainly don't want to hurt any regular staff or bystanders. So I figure taking out the machinery that lets the bar function at all on this rockball will probably hit him REALLY hard in the wallet.

"Well, going I am, and yeah, I'll be looking for a ride back to civilization very discreetly." Thazar says with a grim nod, "If you don't want to buy my shares and Blackjack is unconscious I guess I'll look around here on Elati and see if I can find anyone who wants to buy 20% of a star ship." "Thazar, you misunderstand," says Raven, "I'd love to buy your shares, all of them, but I am a long way from having the credits to do that. Blackjack will be awake soon and there are others on board who may also be interested if you are willing to sell it in chunks to more than one buyer."Thazar shrugs and says, "Fifty thousand per one percent will do for me just fine, and I'll be happy to sell it to anybody in chunks or all of it."
