OOC: Just a couple of comments and question for Chuck, JR and Terry. Elati has an atmosphere that requires a filter mask if you go outside. Buildings generally have airlocks to the outside rather than doors, so you don't have to wear your filters indoors. You three are at a gambling casino/restaurant/bar called Leroy's Bar & Grill. It is roughly 1.5 km from the Main Dome and is out in the Law 0 non-Company controlled territory. Leroy has a "no firearms" policy and collects all weapons at the front hatch to his establishment. You wouldn't have firearms on you, nor obviously knifes, swords, etc. You might have a pocket knife or boot knife, if you sneaked them through. The question is, did you attempt to sneak any weapons through when you came in? I know Jr's character has his dewclaw so he probably didn't attempt to bring any weapons in with him, feeling the dewclaw would do for any trouble in here. So the questions is really for Chuck and Terry. This doesn't mean an attack is imminent nor does it mean one is not. Just a heads up on where you are and the house rules for this place. Takheal has a filter mask, which cost more of his precious credits, and he has no weapons besides his dewclaws. Given his relatively low strength, Gil *always* tries to keep something on him, be it a knife, a stun gun, or something in addition to his filter mask. Although Gil prefers to try to talk his way out of a situation, he's not naive. :-)

Peng quietly goes about researching the moment during a liftoff when the sounds and vibrations peak within the ship's hull, then proceeds to tell his gunnery console to set up a macro command that will automatically synchronize the priming of his cannon's capacitors with this sequence . . . Of course, this will all be useless if Leroy's doesn't pass into my turret's acquisition window during lift-off. But I figure there's a roughly 50% chance of that happening, given our usual flight profile. And of course, someone might order me NOT to fire. But I figure we owe that guy at least one parting shot. While his console processes his instructions, Peng calls up a recent aerial shot of the neighborhood from the starport database and starts looking for the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning) machinery servicing the outlying bar . . . I figure we probably already killed most of Leroy's bully boys and I certainly don't want to hurt any regular staff or bystanders. So I figure taking out the machinery that lets the bar function at all on this rockball will probably hit him REALLY hard in the wallet. Private thoughts: [Raven continues to keep an eye on Peng, when he is being this quiet and trying to be unnoticed he is always up to something. I wouldn't put it past him to pull some stunt that caused the Local Security to arrest us or try to intercept us before we left the system. On the other hand if he pulls something too bad once we lift off and the Company ships move to intercept us, I can always charge him with mutiny and toss him out the airlock, then we might have a chance of leaving, albeit with empty pockets after paying fines. Yeah, that's the ticket, out the lock he goes if that is our slim chance to be able to leave.]

"Thazar, you misunderstand," says Raven, "I'd love to buy your shares, all of them, but I am a long way from having the credits to do that. Blackjack will be awake soon and there are others on board who may also be interested if you are willing to sell it in chunks to more than one buyer." Thazar shrugs and says, "Fifty thousand per one percent will do for me just fine, and I'll be happy to sell it to anybody in chunks or all of it."OOC: erisred where there any upfront payment for our passengers and do I have more credit on hand than I think I do?

"Hmmm, alright I'll see if there is anything I can do and we should let the other's know as well, it would be nice to have all the owners along for the ride if possible."A little later when she has a few spare moments, Captain Raven, calls Peng in to speak with him. She gives him a hard look and without any trace of good humor says, "I don't know what you are up to, but I know it is something we'll all regret so whatever it is knock it off. Or I promise you, you will regret it in exact proportion and then doubled to any trouble it causes the rest of us. I am going to keep looking and if I find anything before liftoff, you will be on your hands and knees scrubbing every inch of the deck with a toothbrush." Then looking him directly in the eyes, she says, "Are we completely clear, Ha'Penny?"

But taking out his entire operation *would* send a stronger message, as it shows we aren't so stupid as to not figure out who hit us and why."

" One any attack is going to bring the local authorities down on us and they have at least three ships in space above us and how many more we don't know and two, we may want to come through here many times and even if we got away unscathed we could never come back. You have to think long term, Peng. So stand down, that is a direct order!"

OOC: Okay a set up post for Terry and JR...and Matt if he gets here soon. Heads up Chuck, Gil is here, too!Terry IG: Charles Lin is in the bar he frequents called Leroy's Bar & Grill having a beer. He has been leaning against the bar covertly watching a big, and he means big, cat-like alien seated at a table across the bar. Charles has never met an alien that looked like this before, hasn't even heard of one that looks like this. This one has been seated quietly since he came in about 20 minutes ago with a bowl of a white liquid in front of it. Every once in a while the creature raises the bowl to his lips and takes a drink. Charles can't be sure, but it sort of looks like it's more of a lap than a sip, but he can't be sure unless he outright goes over and takes a look. It's been almost a month that Charles has been on Elati cooling his heels. He jumped ship here because his old ride was heading back coreward to where there were a few folks that were looking for him. Folks that meant him harm. Charles still had a big balance on his card, so he could afford to hang here for quite a while, but the longer he did the more likely one of those folks looking for him might look here. So, Charles was looking for a ride out into the unexplored Mantan Subsector. A ship called The Clear Sails had landed here yesterday and the rumors Charles has heard says that it's chartered to ferry some traders deep in the Mantan. To him that sounds like a ship he needs to hitch a ride on. The only thing he hasn't settled on is whether he'll use the name and papers for Charles Lin when approaches her Captain or use some other name and papers. OOC: I somehow totally missed this. Sorry! Charles

His curiosity getting the better of him, Gil finishes eating, strolls over to Takheal, and introduces himself. "Pardon me, sophont, but would you be willing to have company? I've traveled many places but I have never encountered anyone like you and I would grateful if you could tell me of your people." Takheal sets his bowl aside and turns to the human male, if he was reading the person's physical characteristics correctly. With humans, it was sometimes difficult to discern their gender, he'd learned. He smiles with his lips tightly closed, as he had learned is appropriate when one wished to be non threatening. Takheal is not physically imposing, being about the size of a normal human male. He wears loose shorts with an apron of some heavy material, hung from a wide belt around his waist. A webbed vest holds several pouches and what appear to be metal emblems attached to the webbing. His body is covered in dense, medium grey hair, trimmed in black on his head and around his feline muzzle. His triangular ears swivel and lift to point at Gil, and his intensely green eyes gaze at the human with open curiosity. "I am Takheal, of the Star Walker clan. Tell me your name?" Seeing that the alien was a bit more approachable than he'd figured, Charles will move over close enough to hear what is being said. He won't skulk or anything, but he'll try not to obviously eavesdrop. but won't be pushy. Charles

I won't try an' shoot the bastid. But just so you know: seems nothing's 'illegal' here if you've got enough money. Else 'Leroy' wouldn't have tried hijacking us all blatant like. I figure hittin' back would just cost another 'paperwork' bribe. Heck, can you even call it a bribe when it's the SOP*?"Shrugging in disgust, Peng turns away back toward his turret with a muttered, "darn rim-runner barbs . . ."_________________________________________________________ *SOP = Standard Operating Procedure

Gil radios Raven, "Captain, I've met a couple of sophonts that are looking for crew berths or other passage that would like to speak to you. I'm under the impression that we were leaving in a few hours. Is that still the case or are we planning on a later departure?" Raven replies to Gil, "No it will be a later departure, Thazar is leaving and wants to sell his share of the ship, so we have to resolve that. Bring the sophonts on in, we need to replace Thazar's skill set and more muscle would be a good thing too. Maybe you can bring us both."Gil responds, "Aye, aye, Captain. When would you like to speak to them?" As Raven starts to reply the signal on her comm goes out and she can't raise Gil on his phone at all. Raven wonders what happened and given all the excitement of late does the following, ( OOC sorry erisred I have lost track of what personnel I have available on the ship, if you can update me I will try to check often so I can update my post quickly) Raven orders the air raft readied for take off if needed so that they are ready to go and for people to get equipped to go back out for a rescue if needed. She also starts scanning the frequencies to see if there is any chatter official or otherwise of anything happening at Leroy's.

OOC: note that I am waiting for a response from our intrepid Gamemaster in regard to the red text above before proceeding. Any chatter that I pick up from quickly scanning the frequencies would be a bonus so we are not completely blind. In any event it takes a few minutes to get everyone together and get the raft ready to go.

OOC: I didn't know we had an air raft. Is it the one from the ambush? [OOC: Our [ATV] appears at the end of the ambush, to cart the crew members involved back to the ship. The air/raft actually involved in the ambush belonged to the Bad Guys and was shot down in the first exchange (I can't remember by whom, except that it wasn't Peng). It is - presumably - still lying where it fell, unless it's been impounded by Corporate Security. Personally, Peng feels that we should lay claim to the crashed air/raft as legitimate salvage. Even if it can't be repaired (and then sold), it should yield a goodly amount of usable spare parts.] [OOC Update: I wasn't certain of the type of ship's vehicle, just that we had one.]
