Emiya was raised on a primitive world in a tropical jungle region within the Gondar Tribe as a member of the Ejeta clan. Since Emiya was 12yo she served the tribe as a warrior of her clan until her family tried to force her to marry a brutal older man from another tribe allied to the Gondar at age15yo, whom she slew on the eve of her wedding day and she fled onto a trader off planet before her clan could recapture her for punishment. She ended up serving a mercenary unit for the next 12 years Emiya learned streetwise, (Squad) Tactics and how to use a shotgun while serving as a mercenary on a planets through out of neighboring star systems prior to mustering out of her service. She got her last name because of her blackened blades from her comrades as arms - the Sato's Spartans Mercenary Group. Though she can use a shotgun and her survival rifle competently she prefer's using her blades, and she will do anything she can to reclaim her sword if lost or stolen unless it is impossible to do so. It is a Sword gifted to her by her to be husband which she used to kill him. It symbolizes her freedom and the loss of her clan and tribe she paid for that freedom.
She is generally quiet when with strangers always has an eye open for danger and potential exists. Though she lives by a code of honor she is not above using ambushes or dirty fighting to defeat a threat - survival comes first. She will go out of her way to protect children and defenseless women, but she expects others to attempt to defend themselves, though she will assist her comrades. She's been travelling away from her home world...which she won't name unless pressed and then she just uses the word for home in her native language (bēti = home)...in almost a straight line since she was 16.
Emiya earned a decent rep within the merc circles for her blade work and bravery. That said, she tries to keep away from Merc crews that work in her homeworld's system as she fears her whereabouts will make it back to her tribe and their allied Gambela Tribe and the clan of her slain to-be husband, the Lemma Clan and that they will seek to have her returned for punishment for her crime and to correct the deep slight upon their honors.
Now she is on Elati at the edge of an unexplored Sub-Sector. She fully expects to get lost from any pursuers in the Mantan Subsector. Emiya is here looking for a ship heading into the unexplored Mantan Subsector...like Clear Sails. It has been a couple of weeks since Emiya arrived on planet. She learned today (Carousing in a bar) that Clear Sails has landed and is continuing into the Mantan Subsector. She has also found out (Streetwise) that the Captain and Owner of Clear Sails are to be found at Leroy's Bar & Casino.
