What do you do with pc fame? In most of my worlds, the pc's are always special and after a relatively small time are famous

Fame is definitely a reward in my games. When the party moves into a new area they are treated with distrust and respect must be earned, but after they have proven themselves I start catering to their egos. They seem to enjoy this more than magic items and XP, and I don't have to factor those magic items and high levels into my designs. PC's are suckers

Fame is a fickle double edged sword in any of my games. Adventurers are either seen as a menace or as rockstars, depending on what they do. Reputation is an important factor when dealing with those in positions of power ... depending on the actions of the PCs in game and on downtime.
Charisma is NOT a dumpstat in my games as there's so much you can do with it in Role Play. A character might be an A**hole in game, but his charisma bonus might make him/her out to be a lovable rogue rather than a boorish loudmouth.

It should be the equal of the others

In the Venerable Arcanum RPG (Complete Adventurer, Complete Alchemist, etc.) there was a fame rating called "Renown." Exactly as described above!
