Has anyone read this book A Sword for the Immerland King (Portals of Tessalindria).

Set in the world of Tessalindria with an Arthurian milieu to keep it familiar, this first in a projected several-volume series revolves around the classic struggle between good and evil. Princess Vrengnia embarks on a spiritual journey and is aided by a wise blacksmith and his son. Her father is confliced by his desire to be a good king and father, and his desire for revenge. It becomes quickly apparent that the blacksmith is a deeply spiritual and prophetic man who is in constant communion with MahEladra, the sovereign spirit of Tessalindria. The first in the Portals of Tessalindria series, this book is especially for those who enjoy fantasy and for those who don't particularly. The characterizations and spiritual insight elevate it from fantasy to visionary fiction.

Lonama's Map (Portals of Tessalindria)

This tale of the remote world of Tessalindria comes to life in a time much like ours. Two young men in the city of Vindarill have taken to thievery in order to survive in the cruel reality of their world. In a robbery attempt gone wrong, Rindar comes to realize he has stolen one of the most sought after treasures on the planet: the legendary Lonama's Map. Second in the Portals of Tessalindria Series, legend comes to life with more history of the world of Tessalindra, and more of the tapestry of the unfolding tale is clearly woven.

The author is by F.W. Faller and I think there is a third book published and another one nearly finished.

Just wondering if anyone has read these, they seem to be fantasy focused on the spiritual side of the story.

The Kirrinath - was written by Mindar Colloden shortly before he passed through the portal from his time in Tessamandria. It represents, in a cogent and thoughtful way, the simple and paradoxical understanding of the Kirrinath and how it was perceived by those who new it best. Complete with illustrations of the Cirag and Danag tetrahedrons and how they combine to form the Kirrinath star, it is a delightful read for deep thinkers.

On the Vorn - written by Mortag of Horrinaine is one of the finest essays for understanding the Tessalindrian view of the vorn with it layers and complexity. Although not altogether foreign to those of earth, the conceptual depth is highly developed in the Tessalindrian view. The translation tries to capture that essence as well as possible, making room for those who do not come from the culture in which it was born.

The second book in the "Portals of Tessalindria" series

The next tale about the remote world of Tessalindria comes to life in a time much like ours, in a city, much like our modern cities. Two young men, disadvantaged from birth by their heritage in a slave culture in the Morlan city of Vindarill, have taken to thievery in order to survive in the cruel reality of their world.

In one of their raids, one of the pair wakes to find that he has killed the old man he had set about to rob. He then steals the only possession of the old man had, only to discover that it is one of the most sought after treasures on the face of Tessalindria, the legendary Lonama's map. In their efforts to elude the authorities that are seeking them, they escape through one of the time portals of Tessalindria and discover themselves catapulted into an age where the legends of their schooling are a way of life.

Throughout the story, Lonama's map is revealed, its secret and shrouded history as well as its capabilities and its relationship to the Kirrinath, the ancient system for understanding life that underpins all of Tessalindrian culture.

There is also a link to an epilogue, but I strongly suggest you don't read it until you have read the book.

I highly recommend the first two books, they are IMO excellent. I have not yet read the third book.

The third book in the Portals of Tessalindria Series

I have read the first book ( A Sword for the Immerland King) and the smith is a different kind of hero. Very unusual in fantasy fiction. I would encourage people to try it. Low violence, high on suspense and novelty.
