Powers & Perils is one of my favourite fantasy RPG of all time. It is really underestimated, i'm afraid i cannot agree with your review.

I've played a lot of role-playing games in my life. Like many others, I teethed on AD&D. I took a gamble on Powers and Perils and was glad I did. It is'nt a game that you can merely flick through. You have to read it and then play it. The game is complex tis true, but for good reason... It has a versitile system where generating a character makes it nigh impossible to come up with identical characters, an extremely diverse and solid magic system and a game where the players can feel their character developing as they play.

I have never even seen P&P, but I enjoyed this review. I have a strong tendency to imbalance myself and I must admit I'm curious to take a look at the thing someday on the basis of this negative review.

Okay, and before posting this, I found that it's available to read...I won't post the link in case it's of questionable legal status, but it looks legit to me. I dig it already!  This thing looks like a gold mine of ideas!

When more than one Magical Healing power, regardless of type, is used on a given Character in the same 24 hour period, it can kill.

Wow!  Powers & Perils doesn't mess around!

That website has been around a long time and had both the author's blessing IIRC and his help putting it together. Because the fan base is so small WotC has turned a blind eye to it. I think, but am not sure, that they own it, but the fan base is (I think) around 500 people or less and if it is more I would be really surprised. I would have to check, but I believe that I have one of the boxed sets.
