PD should you catch up with Chet please let him know he is in my thoughts. Sorry I did not reply to this sooner. I nudge him on FB every now and then and I have passed on your thoughts. His replies are slow and infrequent as he is having a very tough time. The neurological damage that he suffered over the years is profound. He doesn't walk without assistance anymore and all things electronic cause him pain, he can barely read anymore and he is unable to talk on the phone anymore. He is massively missed.

and all things electronic cause him pain, he can barely read anymore and he is unable to talk on the phone anymore Perhaps a parabolic mike, aimed at him from across the room? Even a cheap one could pick up and amplify a whisper, under such conditions. Plus, as it's sensitivity is *highly* directional, it would ignore the output of speakers, particularly if such were placed directly next to it.

Ugh as if the isolation of the "pandemic" isn't bad enough, poor guy can't even make use of accommodative remote technology. :-(

His daughters do a lot for him. His last few years, however long they may be are rough, but at least he is well-loved. I wish I had met him, much earlier in life and would have loved for it to have been in person. Of course that is also true of a lot of you.

My family is still having a rough time. My wife is not doing well health wise and we are all so bored. Nerves are starting to come apart. About the only thing we have going right been having a decent amount of cash from the COVID. I am so sick of watching TV. I am gonna park more here as my creative juices are flowing a little. Hows Chet? Tell him I miss his humor. I will pray for him.

I know you were having a rough patch there for a while.

Very much prayers and positive thoughts for the community here! Mao, my heart breaks for you, having kids on the spectrum myself. No where near the extreme that you persevere through with the love and dedication that only a parent can provide. My personal tragedy was the passing of a dear friend back in August (darn a year ago?!) Had the opportunity int he beginning of July to say goodbye when his family brought his, and his fathers ashes back to the hometown to be interred where his Mom is buried. Still broke my heart with sadness and disbelief.

The new med he is on that his drunken Psychiatrist switched him to, was a great successes we are avoiding all the bad of the last year. Covid here has been extraordinarily hard on him, he hasn't left the house in over a year. We were hoping school would start in September and now we are looking at another lockdown, I hope the public does not put up w that! Tell me more about your kids? You know I will"Get It" BTW I am going to start referring to him by his name.

My eldest is 22 and something of a shut in. The majority of the past year has also been sequestration at home, mostly due to his anxiety about the pandemic (yay social media) and being socially and emotionally delayed. My youngest (13) is thriving however. Had a decent hybrid learning year in school. All in all I think we're better off than many but we all have our burdens to bear ;-)

Best wishes and prayers for all! As to myself, I don't have any kids or even a current SO. Had a couple of the latter in years past, but neither worked out long term. My biggest current issue - only tangentially related to Covid - are the idiots who pick my property for their vacations. As an example: I had a bunch of Covid Deniers tonight who felt that keeping our [very small diameter] hot tub closed and suspending daily housekeeping services until vaccination rates improved was "a matter of opinion, not fact." My response: "You might think it opinion, but for our purposes here it IS fact - because our owners say it is." They kept on poo-pooing our precautions, so instead of checking them into rooms I refunded their deposits, cancelled their reservations and wished them a pleasant stay . . . somewhere else. They were simply STUNNED and started to argue that I could not do this. I replied, "On the contrary, I have every right to DENY you service. You are obviously unsatisfied with the accommodations we offer. You will only find endless reasons to complain." The group leader pounced on that: "So are there more reasons to complain?" Me: "I'm absolutely certain you would find some, even if there weren't any. So have a nice evening and God bless." I then picked up the phone and dialed the police, allowing them to hear me ask for an officer to escort them off the property. It's soooooo nice to work at an independent hotel, one not chained hand and foot to insane corporate "the customer is always right, even when he's wrong" policies.

The Perilous Dreamer you have created a wonderful place for warm conversation and talking about our fav topics. Free of drama and vitriol. Heck, I'm the biggest prob here, lol(just kidding). I have had the privilege of building it with you. I love being a big fish in a tiny pond. And eventually it will be a bigger pond, I am sure of it.

During the incident, I texted him: "Got a bunch of difficult, dissatisfied folk in line to check-in. They already don't like our policies and will undoubtedly want refunds at check-out. So I'm refunding them now and sending them on down the road." His reply: "That's fine." Added Bonus Effect: After watching me very politely send two rooms worth of argumentative guests down the road with a smile, everyone else in line was VERY polite.

It is one thing to help someone who has a legitimate reason to complain and another to bend over backwards for professional grifters.
