I did not know there was such a thing as abandoned ferrets. Are they that common as pets? I would imagine that there are people who get tired of ferrets as pets. They're too intelligent and cantankerous for the lazier sort. I used to game with a fellow who had a couple of ferrets. They were miraculous escape artists. I don't think we had a single session that wasn't interrupted at some point by a Chase Down The Escaped Ferret Fandango. Cantankerous in what way?

As the fellow said: "total bad girl wild biter ferret."
"Biter" being the really important part. Ferrets are FAST. If they decide to bite you, then you are bit.

People get ferrets and have no idea how much work is needed to take care of them and any die of starvation and dehydration as well as cancer from early malnutrition. As for the biter, she is getting better and has stopped drawing blood. We assume that someone must have mistreated her. We are her last hope as she has been returned at least 3 times.

The Biter turned out to be a male. Gender misinformed.

Doing okay especially considering the pandemic. I am looking for a room to rent by the 30th. Had to do a lot of cleaning out the garage and shed outback and doing a bunch of packing.

I will be altering my diet going forward. Been there, done that, got a T-shirt I never wanted. Kidney stones are intense. Extreme constant pain that never eases up. My doctor told me to drink plenty of water and to drink water at bedtime, so you have to get up in the middle of the night and flush things out. I've been doing that for 20 years now. Yeah, that kind of pain is pretty motivating.

I'm told that I appear to be a carbon copy of my Dad physically and he never experienced this issue in all his 75 years, so I'm hopeful that I'll be lucky enough to keep dodging this particular bullet.

Hexenritter Verlag is in the hospital and has been there for a day or two. He is in terrible pain and thought he had kidney stones, but it turned out to be gallstones. He is going to have surgery, I think today. Please be praying for him, for a great surgery and a fast recovery. He is also supposed to be looking for an apartment and packing for a move at the end of the month. Be praying that he will be able to get the help he needs to work that out as well. I do not think there will be anyone at the hospital with him, so please keep him in your thoughts. I will let you know when I hear from him.

I just checked Twitter and he sent a message, so he would have went into surgery about 3 hours ago. So I am hoping to hear from him later today. He appreciates everyone's continued prayers.

Wonderful news! As to the apartment move, I hope the market for such where EHS lives is better than the one here. Availability here (Sevier County, Tennessee) is chronically low, particularly for anything which a single person can afford. If EHS lives anywhere near a university, I would recommend that he investigate buying a multi-bedroom/bath house. This may sound crazy, but if he can swing a loan for such, he could easily cover the monthly mortgage by renting out the extra bedrooms/baths to [preferably graduate] students or visiting faculty. I wish I had thought to do this, when I went to college back in the 80s. Re-selling after graduation would have set me up quite well!

I live in a growing area around Portland Oregon. Because of Covid & my surgery I lost a chance at one room and potentially another. But my landlord won’t evict me: 1) it is unthinkable to him especially with my health concerns & 2) it’s illegal. Going to look for a room and see if I can negotiate a 3-4 month lease see if I have the funds and either pay it in a lump sum once I sign a legally binding lease and can move in or pay monthly with it IF needed as I look for clients as a caregiver payed via DHS Oregon. I want to thank you Raikenclw, The Perilous Dreamer & mao.

Not in the cards but something to consider eventually. I live in a growing area around Portland Oregon . . . Going to look for a room and see if I can negotiate a 3-4 month lease . . . as a caregiver payed via DHS Oregon. I just had a another thought, sparked by the above: The university I attended (East Tennessee State) had a policy whereby individuals who were not currently students - particularly but not exclusively alumni - could rent empty rooms in their undergraduate and graduate housing units. Perhaps you could investigate whether state schools in Portland offer the same? Since you are apparently some kind of state contractor, there might even be a government service already set up to handle this. You're welcome!

I look forward to playing in PD's new game with you! As to your son: I have no experience with autism. But I recall someone [perhaps you, perhaps my real life friend Tim who also has an autistic son] posting some while back that their son tends to pay attention to TV. Have you tried your son with audiobooks? If you could find a book series with a narrator whose voice soothes him, then you'd be set. The typical audio novel runs for about twelve hours . . . half a day of a soothing voice, with no commercial interruptions.

Hey All,
Things in RL have gone downhill rather severely today. Starting about 2:30 this afternoon, I began to have pain while breathing in. I drove to the VA clinic in Sevierville, where the nurse came out to my car and took my vitals (which were all in normal range). They gave me a perscription for antibiotics, on the supposition that my immediate problem was a lung infection of some kind. I got this filled at Walmart (free; it can be good to be a vet) then drove home. By the time I was headed home, the pain had gotten pretty bad - even three Aleve barely dented it. So I drove very slow, with my flashers on, all the way to the house.
Finally got home about 7:30pm (not quite four hours ago). I immediately put on my CPAP mask and - as I had hoped! - the constant positive air pressure kept my airway expanded. I got some relief immediately (that invisible guy finally quit stabbing my lungs with a dull knife and took up knuckle-punching me instead). Over the next hour or so my pain level slowly went down to it's current level of mild discomfort,
My temp - taken orally with a digital unit several minutes ago - is 99.3 (well within normal adult variance). Also,I took one of my brother's prescription water pills, so I'm looking forward to further pain reduction soon (although also definitely very frequent bathroom trips).
Sadly, I can't wear my eyeglasses over my CPAP sleep mask, so my posts here have taken a WHILE. Mostly I'm just sitting at my desk (can't lie down without the pain coming back hard even with the mask), listening to my backlog of audiobooks and wondering if I will get any sleep tonight.
My boss told me not to worry about working until everything shakes out okay. I guess I'll be on unemployment for a while longer. I go back to the VA clinic for a COVID cheek swab tomorrow afternoon, although they say it will be four days until the test results will come back.

Wow, will be praying for you raikenclw. sorry you could not get tested today while you were there. Do you have an electrical adaptor so you can use the CPAP in the car? Do you have an oxygen sensor - one that you use on your finger? Covid 19 apparently causes your oxygen levels to gradually plummet but you do not know if because you are still getting rid of CO2. When you see the doctor tomorrow if your oxygen levels are up in the 95% range I am told that is a good sign, but if it is a lot lower, then that is a sign you have Covid 19.
