I will be attending AthensCon in Athens, Greece for the two day convention in December, and Nathalie and I already have our plane tickets from them.
My convention activities will be:
* Panel Discussion with many other top flight game designers about board game design
* 2 hour workshop: The Genius of Original Dungeons & Dragons: Leaping Outside the Box of Design History. The expected turn out for this could be as high as 30-40 people
* 2 four hour sessions of Castle El Raja Key. I am redesigning ERK's "Lake Level" into two maps from the one that appeared in the El Raja Key Archive. This level was also used as a Greyhawk Castle level when I transferred some of my levels into GH Castle. It was renamed, then, the Black Reservoir (a write up of an adventure into it occurs online). This is a total redesign to two maps and encounters from the lone original
Then there's eating lots of gyros. Can't miss that!
I'll update this post if/when I receive additional news and links.

I'm assuming that the consumption of gyros is mandatory. If not, it should be. Ideal gaming food, where one doesn't have to break verisimilitude, or even watch what one is doing, to eat.

Yep Gyros, kebabs, and other great Grecian foodstuffs. I have been promised by the convention overseers that Nathalie and I will eat the best Athens has to offer.
On the non-culinary side of the topic, the convention had 15,000 attendees last year and are expecting the same number if not more this year.
So far I have been invited to and attended LUCCA in Italy, was tempted to go to a Lyon convention but had to cancel due to writing deadline conflicts, and to this one.
I have a banner from them that I approved of about my appearance as a special guest but I will not be posting it until they update their site, and that will be done in a blog post and linked to from here.
Looking forward to getting away from the mountain retreat and getting some gaming, kibitzing and work-n-play done. Conventions are always a huge thrill as well as very tiring affairs, but always worth it.
