Any character that reads this work will immediately gain the benefit of adding (+) 1 to their Hit Die roll henceforth. In addition, 1 point shall be gained for each level the character has gained in the past up to the point of reading the book. The book can only be read by one person at a time, in a single sitting. Any attempt by others to read over the shoulder shall result in all involved suffering 10 six-sided dice of damage, and the loss of 5,000 experience points; such a warning is clearly printed on the first page of the book. Once entirely read, the contents of the book will vanish and it will magically turn into a hollow vessel (keeping all its dimensions, but lacking interior pages), serving as a Box of Holding similar to a small bag of the same name.
Future readings of similar books will continue to reward characters with 1 HP per level they have attained, even if they can no longer continue to gain actual levels; especially helpful to dwarfs, elves and hobbits that have capped out.
