My wife and I have been watching the new TV show the Orville [ The Orville] and we are both thoroughly enjoying it. It more than any other show has fully recaptured the magic that was Star Trek: The Original Series. They have returned to the formula that Gene Roddenberry originally used. We particularly love the way that it has original Star Trek dilemmas and solutions. It is cutting edge and skewers the modern sacred cows. It is in our opinion funny and thought provoking. IMO the real Star Trek is finally back after all these years, I hope it has a long run instead of being stabbed in the back like the original show was. Hopefully it will at least have a long enough run, that it makes it into syndication. I think that it also provides inspiration for gaming if you are into Traveller.

I agree, the humor at times seems out of place and yet, strangely appropriate. Production values are decent and the cameos by "big name" stars are neat. I'm certainly enjoying it and since I don't have access to ST:Discovery The Orville fills the void quite nicely.

I've been watching it too. It's fun, although the Seth McFarlane humor shows through in places.
But it's more Star Trek then most of the actual Star Treks since the 1980s movies.
