In this thread will be all of the PCs and followers(when applicable) for Richard . You can be looking at these now and I will unlock when I have other info posted so that you have a better idea of the decisions you will want to make concerning Class, and Race. In the meantime here are the stats for a few characters, I will add to this from time to time. This is the format and I will enter number for you in few days and then you can start picking what you want.

You might want to number each character (line?), to reduce any possibility of confusion. I'm tempted by the second one down, but I just don't see Sora as being quite that obtuse (5 Intelligence as well as 5 Wisdom).

I am not quite following the above comment. What does "gave up a different option" mean? Admin Edit: It was a typo, should read gave a different.

Would it be possible to post a completely new list of stats? When you change the old list, it also apparently changes all the quoted versions, which could lead to confusion. On the list as it currently appears (10/5 at 2:25 am EST), only two sets of stats could possibly make a paladin (going by the Charisma stats) and one of *those* has a 3 (!) on Dexterity. So that leaves only a single option (the second row down) for my PC.

Only the one qualifies as a paladin (min CHA 17 in OD&D) and I rolled until I got a paladin and added it in because you wanted a paladin. These are all 3d6 in order, it would take a lot of rolling to roll up six paladins for you to choose from. I rolled up six options for each person so that they could hopefully find one they wanted to play. If we were playing face to face you would roll 3d6 six times in order and that would be your character. The only reason that any of you get to choose one from six options is because we are not face to face and I bent that for you because you really wanted a paladin. I am hoping that will work for you. If a character dies I will be giving people a choice to go with one of the other options, but I will add two more sets of rolls to choose from when that happens.

Sora will just have to be a bit sub-par when it comes to picking up on subtle clues from his environment. He's Doctor John Watson, rather than Sherlock Holmes. . . . I bent that for you because you really wanted a paladin. I am hoping that will work for you. It'll do. If a character dies I will be giving people a choice to go with one of the other options, but I will add two more sets of rolls to choose from when that happens. A thought: could we create one of the other options as a hireling/henchman of my PC? Given his Charisma of 18, it wouldn't be that unreasonable for him to start play with an NPC companion. Initially this person could be a 0-level lackey, something on the order of D'artagnan's serving man Planchet. As time went on (and my PC advanced in power), so might this NPC. Should my PC die, then I could take over this NPC and we wouldn't have to struggle with writing my new character into the story, since he'd already be there.

. . . Initially this person could be a 0-level lackey, something on the order of D'artagnan's serving man Planchet . . . I was reading in the relevant thread about the categories of companions. I'm not sure what Planchet would be considered. He rarely got paid anything (because D'artagnan was normally dead broke), yet was very loyal to his master, even fighting. And I think the third set of stats - the one with Strength 18 - would work best for Planchet. That lets him swing benches as melee weapons, when we get into tavern brawls. It also gives him just a tad higher Wisdom than Sora, so we can have scenes like: Planchet: "Um, Master? I think the locals are a bit upset about you letting half the town burn down while we were fighting those bugbears." Sora: "Nonsense, my good man! Surely they know that opposing Evil requires the occasional sacrifice." Planchet (eyeing the mob assembling at the far end of the street): "Not sure they'd agree with you, sor . . ."

As a Paladin, it is possible that he may grow wiser over time, how much time is an open question. Take a look at mormonyoyoman thread for a little guidance on the second character perhaps there is a reason that he follows you and it not a hireling, maybe he has moved (with good reason) to a follower. See here.

What we have so far is a fighting-man of the alien race Deveuil name of Sora. He is a reptilian humanoid, reddish in color and scaly, he a set of horns growing out of their head at each temple and he has a tail which he uses mainly for balance. He has the goal of becoming a paladin and is working towards being chosen for that avocation. I have adjusted his numbers based on his race which increases his strength by one to 13 and his intelligence by one to 12 and his wisdom by one to an 8. He has a natural armor class of 9 but as he ages it will gradually improve to a maximum of armor class 5 (not anytime soon). If misses his save versus magical fire damage he takes half damage, if he makes to save he takes no damage, he takes no damage from normal fire, he does take triple damage from cold attacks and at temperatures below 60°F he is -1 to all combat rolls and -1 to his AC due to being sluggish moving at 3/4 normal speed, at temperatures below 50°F those become -2 and moves at half normal speed and below 40°F he goes dormant until removed to a warmer area. All temperatures can be encountered in dungeons from cold to hot. Outdoors in the wilderness all temperatures can be encountered depending on the time of year and time of day. This area is slightly further north that he would usually range. Strength | Intelligence | Wisdom | Constitution

I have adjusted his numbers based on his race which increases his strength by one to 13 and his intelligence by one to 12 and his wisdom by one to an 8. Ummm. Table still shows the original values . . . . . . at temperatures below 60°F he is -1 to all combat rolls and -1 to his AC due to being sluggish moving at 3/4 normal speed, at temperatures below 50°F those become -2 and moves at half normal speed and below 40°F he goes dormant until removed to a warmer area . . . I assume these numbers refer to FELT temperature? That is, if Sora bundles up in furs/etc [as applicable] he can raise the effective FELT temperature? E.g. what causes reptiles and amphibians to get sluggish and go dormant is that they have no internal heat regulation system . . . and they don't wear clothes (which form an EXTERNAL heat regulation system). Of course, bundling up would (in and of itself) impede Sora's Dexterity. Fighting-man Planchet Please fill in the race and other details and add equipment for both and how they came to be together. I'll start working on that.

I just noticed that Planchet is now Josiah, I still need to you assign an affinity for him and tell me which one has the quarrel case and how the other one is carrying quarrels and how many.

I just noticed that Planchet is now Josiah, I still need to you assign an affinity for him and tell me which one has the quarrel case and how the other one is carrying quarrels and how many. Can we have two half-size quarrel cases? If not, Josiah will be carrying the quarrel case and Sora will have just three quarrels, tied to the stock of his crossbow with some twine. Sora doubts he'ill get the opportunity to fire more than three shots before the fight closes into melee range, since he can't carry the bow cocked for any length of time (without stretching the cord into uselessness) and will have to dismount before beginning to ready the weapon. In the event that Whoever elects to stand off and snipe at the party, Josiah can hand Sora more shafts. Josiah's full name is "Josiah Planchet," just as Sora's full name is "Sora Damocleese." Since my posts use only the first name of Sora, I thought it appropriate to use only the first name of Josiah. Besides, it's easy for me to remember: the new baby of one of my co-workers is named - completely coincidentally - Josiah.
