1st level Spell Errata and Clarifications
Protection from Evil: Evil refers to creatures of an enchanted or summoned nature, ie. ifrit, djinn, invisible stalkers, elementals, devils, demons, and the undead
Charm Person: Magically charmed persons count towards a player’s henchman total.
Read Magic: Affects a single scroll or text. Any character can cast a spell from a scroll, but even magic users have no idea what that spell is. A read magic spell (or similar ability) lets a magic-user discern what a scroll has written on it.
Sleep: When cast on a mixed group, sleep will only affect one HD range of monsters. Randomly determine which HD range it affects (from only those ranges that are present), randomly determine how many creatures are affected, then randomly determine the targets from those creatures in the magic user’s line of sight within the specified range of the spell.
