How about you tell everyone a bit more about how you are going to run the contest and is there a prize.

OK what Om seeing is nested contests The first one creates a universe we are all going make, Then future contests would explore that universe, For the next one we could make monsters for the winner or create a over arcing theme to fit them all together, a creation myth so to speak. Prize and judging, I say judging would be by vote of the particapant and I could give out miniatures as prizes as I am going to get rid of the vast majority of then anyway,( I would particepate but just get bragging rights) I was going to move them to my New FTF venue and give them to the owner.but I can easily just give out some of my better paint jobs as prizes Hows That all sound?

This has driven me crazy! I've tried 10 times to scribe a response, and still haven't been able to articulate my concept. So I'll try again.
Something cataclysmic has happened (let's just use a simple trope) and the entire surface of the world is absent of humans, dwarfs, elves, hobbits, and those qualifying as general humanoid types (goblins, orcs, giants, trolls, ogres, etc.); anything bipedal with the intellectual capacity to use tools, weapons, etc. All artificial structures, communities, etc., created by the races has long crumbled away, leaving multitudes of but small piles of rubble as a reminder that something was there, once.
During the period of daylight upon the surface of the world the air is scorching hot (30-40 C), and when darkness covers the land it becomes a frigid zone (0-10 C).
All PCs awake beneath the surface, in underground caverns, dungeons, etc., feeling hungry, as if they had been asleep for weeks. In fact, they have been in a kind of hibernation for 100 years. All were the victims of an attack by a vampire; and all had died, only to become one of the undead, themselves. But now, they feel as if they have free will to move as they want, do as they want, be as they want.
But the surface world repulses their efforts to climb out of the depths during the day light hours. And they slowly begin to realize, they are vampires, still. They can only move about during the dark of night, and they have no idea what has happened on the surface, and must uncover clues if they ever wish to find out.
...uh...
Well, i'm stuck again. See what happens? So, thoughts?

So I happened to get pneumonia now. As it turns out, that's not a whole lot of fun. But who am I to turn down a writing contest? Since I woke up in the middle of the night with this idea for a setting in mind I thought I'd better write it down and post it.
About a century ago an explorer from the Old World discovered an uncharted continent west of the great ocean. For the last few decades ships have carried immigrants across the water and colonies have been founded. Prospectors, fortune seekers, mercenaries, criminals escaping the law as well as refugees escaping political or religious persecution have all come here in search of fame, gold or simply a new life. Now they live in fortified villages along the eastern coast. Only the bravest or most desperate ones dare venture further into the wilderness, and not all of them come back. It's a lush and fertile land, but full of dangers - and, as the colonizers soon discovered, it's not uninhabited. Here are many strange creatures, known only from fairytales or nightmares. A few of them are friendly, a lot of them are hostile, and all of them appear alien and suspicious to the colonizers.
It's a time for discovery, for hard labour and for facing the greatest challenges possible.
It's a place marked by isolation, superstition, fear and struggle for survival.
Welcome to the New World. Here be monsters. Now, what do you do?
This is American gothic versus weird fantasy, pioneers tales with a Lovecraftian twist, the Salem witch trials and hex crawl explorations all rolled into one.
A selection of suggested sources of inspiration: The Solomon Kane stories by Robert E. Howard, "Children of the corn" and "Salem's Lot" by Stephen King, "The shadow over Innsmouth" and "The case of Charles Dexter Ward" by H.P. Lovecraft, "American gods" by Neil Gaiman, movies like "The scarlet letter" and "Sleepy Hollow".

Idylle
This bucolic world has known peace and prosperity for generations. The Great Empire has held the world in its loving and gentle hand. Suddenly magical rifts have opened with horrid otherrealm creatures spitting out. One small sleepy village holds the keys to maintaining the peaceful life style. This one village has been maintaining the kn\owlage of violence and war. Long shunned for its warlike ways, the noble sons of the village are trained in the adventurng arts and are the only beings who can help contain the spread of evil. One group is responsible for the horrors that have decended. Th last of the druids chaff under the Empires grasp, their sacred grove are all that remains of the great forrests that once covered the land. They seek to resore evil to a balance. They are the sick cancer spread over the peace and love of Idylle.
