You both are scaring me. Or maybe it's my meds. Why, pray tell am I scaring you??? I'll bet it is because your icon tried to kill Conan!

You both are scaring me. Or maybe it's my meds. Why, pray tell am I scaring you??? Hey, I retired from my mindreading act in 2011. Besides, it's dark and spooky inside rolegamers' minds! (Dang. Proboards do/does not seem to have an emoticon which nicely expresses fear.)

My baby brother, an avid MMO player now that he's retired, gets irritated when I post this on his page. Which, of course, is the only reason I do it. He pestered me enough when he was a kid; now it's my turn. (insert Dr Sivana laugh)

Homebrew world, Spear MT. dungeon Too bad. I had SUCH a campaign scenario for you! Once again, I'm disappointed in the lack of an emoticon for "sneaky." I'll have to import jpgs in the future. Still, it's probably better than the old days with a manual typewriter, and we made up emoticons from the ASCII keys.

I'm 128,000 words into telling you about my character and his friends. Should I have bothered, or have I been wasting my and everyone else's time? Inquiring minds want to know...

May not see it until Monday. nyuk, nyuk, nyuk! Tuesday, at the latest... The actual question for me is that my account of our adventures with Phil back in Ye Olden Dayes is about to hit the half-way point; I am expecting to go to about 300,000 words across the three volumes in order to tell our stories - 12 years x 52 weeks/year x 5 hours/night gives me over 3,000 of adventures, so I have a lot of stories to tell - and I am honestly wondering if there's any interest in the thing amongst modern gamers. There's no rules, no tables, no dice rolls, just our story of exploring Phil's creation and trying to stay alive. I've assumed that an intelligent GM could use it as a source on inspiration, but some of the feedback I've gotten says otherwise. I am not interested in writing yet another RPG or some sort of version of Jon's book, so I'm genuinely interested in finding out if there's any interest in the thing as stories...

There may be no interest among modern gamers, but I'm hardly a modern gamer. Can't say "I'm anything but a modern gamer" because I'm not ANYthing. Not a Medusa gorgon, for instance.

Seriously, I'm in a 5E game where I play a half-elf druid named Lianna. She's almost 6th level.
I suspect I may have based her humor on the cleric from Nodwick.

Any GM/DM could and should use it for inspiration, I would completely discount the feedback that says otherwise. Sounds to me like people who are jealous or who don't want other options out there. Stories of yesteryear are badly needed IMO and I can and will read the whole thing and cannot wait for it to be available. It is unimaginable to me that anyone who not want to hear the details of playing with Phil. Are you going the pdf route or hard copy?

The important thing @chirinebakal, IMO is to keep this alive for the generation that comes after the current one. Modern gamer's IME are not interested in many things that are germane to our hobby. But the pendulum swings and the wheel turns. There is a time for everything, so please keep writing and make this unique and rare gem available.

@chirinebakal, should you ever desire to post some or all of your book (or anything else) here, I will immediately make a sub-forum available for your use.

Now that you've teased us with this much you have to finish it! That is just flat out great writing. There are high paid authors that cannot write that well. You have a very engaging style and really make it live. If you had a lot of books on the market and I read your first one, I would have to track the others down and read them.

I will give it some very real thought; things are moving again in my life that makes me think that it might be a good thing to try this. I worry about being boring, though...

Thank you for your very kind words! I will say that I have been very lucky in my gaming, in that I got to play with some really great story-tellers. This isn't so much my story as theirs and their friends - like Gronan - and what we did in their worlds. I have the draft outline of our adventures more or less done - it can be seen at chirinesworkbench.blogspot.com/p/to-serve-petal-throne-faq-page.html and I can add morte to it if people would like. This is still very much a work in progress, as I keep looking through my archives and finding new stories to tell.

Gave an exhausted exalt to you, Chirine, and one to our benevolent PD, so if those don't encourage you to write more stuff for a specific gifted website, I don't know what will. You can't have my chicken alfredo pasta!

You can put words together coherently, Chirine. That puts you ahead of 90% of the people.
