Nodding at his friend, Sora resumes rumbling: "We are free mercenaries, not currently under contract. This fellow here" - waving at Herv - "says that you're organizing an adventuring group. We are not opposed to joining such, but would like more details. Particularly, I and Josiah are followers of the One God and - while we do not require that anyone else be such - neither do we wish to join any endeavor which would not find favor with Him." Tuck holds forth, "I am an initiate in the Brotherhood of the Golden Torc, a clerical order. I believe we are asking you to join but not for hire." Looking around at the others, "Am I correct about that my fellow adventurers? We are seeking members for our quest, perhaps these two worthies and mayhap yon trio of orcs." Thinking to himself, one can never have too many lesser folk as living shields.

[OOC: Varien isn't so sure of this one god thing, but he's learned to keep quiet about such things... Varien likes his new friend Sliggoth, he'll probably warm up to the others (and this is part of me having gotten lost in all the role play here...).]I say let's explore the place that may bring death to any who enter. I feel like cheating death today. See here.

OOC: My big issue right now is I know we want to explore this location, but I have no details to give anybody on how to do that, where it is, etc, which I was informed would be forthcoming from our GM I am sorry, I was waiting on the group to finalize who is in the party and reach consensus on what you were doing. Also if you all re-read the thread I dropped a hint * which no one pursued. Were anyone to pursue that source of information they might be very pleasantly surprised. *As you investigate the rumor more closely and confer with the bartender, you learn that it would be able two weeks of steady travel on foot with at least 10 hours a day spent walking. Also the ogre implies that he might know a bit more about those ruins. Also the mage with a mission was mentioned, are you approaching him? Also is Shiyazthar visiting "Hides, Pelts & Skins?" Due to the time frames and your finances you may not be able to hire anyone, however, as noted you can pursue things through the Character Creation threads or the three orcs and/or other locals may be willing to join you for a full share of whatever you gain. Just let me know what each of you want to do and feel free to pm me if you want.

Tuck speaks with his proposal, "I move that Sora and Josiah be welcomed and that we invite the orcs as well. They seem to be good fellows and it will strengthen us. The bartender knows more and for a price he may help us."

"'Join' how, exactly? As hirelings for wages, as partners for shares or as something else? I have found that clarity in such matters at the outset of any endeavor is strongly advisable." “As partners, I think. I would imagine a share to be split between the two of you by whatever agreement you have. I myself have a henchman, and am planning on one share for the two us.” Wy gives an inexplicable little wink.

Is anyone going to talk to the ogre as two players have suggested? Are you in agreement as to what you might offer him for the information that he has hinted that he has? Is anyone pursuing other options that may exist to get more information about where you are going? Please finalize the party and equipment so that you can get underway.

Neither Shiyazthar nor Kavita even think about it. Shiyazthar is bartering for a couple of dozen good arrows from the local fletcher. Kavita seems spaced out, but is consciously attempting to dream while awake, something that Shiyazthar insists is ridiculous.

The bartender knows more and for a price he may help us." Sora looks dubious when the table full of orcs are called "good fellows" and clears his throat to say something, but then reconsiders as the idea of inviting them along seems to prove popular . . .

The nagatherian Sliggoth answers Sora. "Well, if there is one God, then we are all his creations. Excellent, I know we'll get along! We are trying to decide if we should do a perilous quest for a wizard, or set out to investigate a place known to bring death to any who enter." Sora smiles and while Josiah doesn't, he does nod in a agreeable fashion.

We are trying to decide if we should do a perilous quest for a wizard, or set out to investigate a place known to bring death to any who enter." Herv speaks, "I too (and many of my people) have come to believe in the One God and believe Him to be the One that my people have worshiped from time immemorial on our home world. As I understood it we were deciding to do one of these or possibly both if they both took us the same direction." Sora nods and says, "This 'place of death' sounds as if it is a den of Evil that wants cleansing, so that would be our preference. As to the wizard and his proposition . . . "Here Sora pauses to exchange a meaningful glance with his companion, then continues: "I'm a bit less enthused by such as that. Wizards as patrons tend to have fools and dead men as employees."

I say let's explore the place that may bring death to any who enter. I feel like cheating death today. Sora's smile broadens upon hearing this sentiment, then he claps a horny hand on the table and exclaims: "Now, that's the spirit!"

Looking around at the others, "Am I correct about that my fellow adventurers? We are seeking members for our quest, perhaps these two worthies and mayhap yon trio of orcs." Sora nods along as it seems as shares are being offered, but his smile dims as the subject of "yon trio of orcs" rises again. Looking around the group, Sora says, "I and Josiah here would be happy to join with you in exchange for shares, but I am frankly not very keen on inviting along orcs. In my experience, very few of them can be counted upon when the blades come out in earnest, regardless of how much they may brag about their ferocity around the campfire. I can count the number of orcs I would trust at my back on the fingers of one hand, yet still have enough digits left to wipe my ass."

A bit confused by the continuing calls for the orcs to join up - Has anyone here actually spoken to the orcs in question yet?1 - Sora nods and says in a somewhat distracted tone, "Yes. A full share to split between myself and Josiah will do. For now, at least."Sora completely misses the "little wink," but Josiah doesn't. Catching Wy's eyes, he gives a miniscule shake of his head. 2******************************************************************************************************** 1) = I use italics to indicate the private thoughts of my characters. I do this in order to give the other players the opportunity to respond to these sentiments indirectly, such as by reading subtle clues in the character's body language or tone of voice. 2 = Josiah has assumed that the "little wink" is Wy's way of implying that a sexual relationship exists, so he's telling Wy that he and Sora aren't gay/bi.

Herv, quietly nods his agreement. The ogre leans in closer and says, "There is a lot to tell and a lot I could tell about those ruins, but there is a price for that information as that is where I received these scars. Don't frown like that, it is not your coin I am looking for, I can see none of you have much of that. There are some other items there that match my pitcher, I want the whole group of you to swear on oath that you will bring those items back with you, if you survive. Without my information, odds are against any of you making it back. Talk it over and let me know!" The ogre turns away to serve other customers.
OOC: Today is the 7th day of Juna at about 3 glasses past noon. Day 1 of your adventure.
