So I was dimly aware that the game existed and had gotten a copy of Wizard(the more I think about this the less I think this part was out for this) and Melee games. I made a wilderness map and made a post apocalyptic world that the players had to explore and find 9 volt and AA batteries for the God Tandy of Radio Shack. I actually had a pretty good grasp on a bunch of the mechanics of running a game world from context. So I actually invented D&D(looking at PDs En Gaurd thread reminded me of this) EDIT Wow, Ive actually been DMing two years longer than I realized LOL, I invented and dmed D&D, that is so wild to remember.

D&D or Gamma World? Do you still have the map and any details of the post apocalyptic world?

Ok your right it was actually Gamma World, didnt think of that, Map was either an old weather or geologic map of somewhere I had gotten a hold of with scribbled notes on it of where the batteries were located, that was the only game notes I had. I m not remebering how much exposure to D&D that I had had up to that point. I think I had gotten several issues of The Dragon and I remeber an artical I had read on D&D and Orgies in it(PG 13 stuff) How you could spend gold and get ep for orgies. That may have been the only artical about D&D I had read up to that point.

Just remebered another tidbit. Also made a dungeon for another primitave hand to hand game, def came up w this based on the name D&D so dint invent dungeon from whole cloth , It was round and had encounters with random fighters, Dont think I ever used that one thou. Game was super weird and had hex map of human male where you would place coctail sword on hex you were attaking and defending, cant remeber name of game but I think this was actually before My Gamma World start.(the game was called sword something or other)

You "invented D&D in 1976," if nothing else, you do have self-confidence. Do you have these fits of grandeur often?

Well, that is a lot better than just have "fits" all by themselves.

Tunnels and Trolls was invented in the same way at about the same time, it's too bad you never published your version
