As you may or may not have noticed, I haven't posted anything here for about six months. I've been checking in every now and then, but haven't had the time or energy to actually post. Around last Christmas there were some health issues in my family, but luckily everything turned out ok in the end. Then there was this massive reconstruction at work, and once that was done I was promoted to manager for my department, which of course is great fun but also means a lot of work. Add to that the raising of three little kids, and you start to get the picture... Also, I'm sad to say, a couple of weeks ago the oldest one of my younger brothers passed away, aged 39. Needless to say, this has affected me and my family immensely.
I haven't produced much creative material lately. I finished two colour pieces to be used as cover illustrations for upcoming adventure modules, but haven't written anything. To be honest, I'm not sure when I'll find the time and energy to produce anything at the moment. I still have lots of ideas, and I've spent quite a lot of time contemplating them. I've mainly focused on two projects. The way things look now, I'm thinking about making a reboot of the Xul project. The core will remain the same, but I intend to strip it down further, focusing even more on the feeling of the setting rather than the facts of it. I have some ideas about providing tools and guidelines on how to make it pulpy, episodical science fantasy. Some parts of the setting (that I originally "borrowed" from some of my other projects) might get lifted and placed elsewhere. I'll keep you posted.
I've also been thinking (for years now, actually) about making my own personalized BRP retro clone, since that was always my go to-system back in the day. At first, I only intended to create the system, leaving it to be used for generic fantasy adventures. But it seems I simply cannot avoid coming up with ideas for new settings... What originally was some sort of tribute to my earliest self-made settings and earliest sources of inspirations, soon evolved and got mixed up with other elements, and suddenly I had this thing going. I suppose it could be described as Warhammer meets Labyrinth with murder hobos in an anachronistic fairytale with elves as ecological terrorists and dwarves being more Russian than Norse or Celtic. And some Runequest ducks, just for good measure. As I stated earlier, I'll keep you posted.
