I'm considering starting a play by post OD&D campaign here. It will be primarily just the 3 LBB, though with the addition of character classes as appropriate (Thief and Paladin for sure), but definitely not the attribute bonuses from Greyhawk or the new spells (well, the spells MIGHT be available as treasure...). I've posted my house rules in the past over in the House Rules sub-forum.
Setting would be either Wilderlands of High Fantasy (possibly not on Map 1 to play in a different part of the world from my campaign over on the odd74 board) or Blackmoor. A Blackmoor campaign would use the maps from the TSR modules and whatever little bits can be extracted from The First Fantasy Campaign (ignoring most of the rules stuff and ok, sure the various NPCs are there...). One person has expressed an interest in Blackmoor but I'm actually a bit more inclined to use Wilderlands.
I'd like at least 3 players who are willing to post at least a few times a week to keep momentum. If we have that, a few players who don't post as often would be welcome as long as they are willing to be be directed by the consensus of the more frequent posters. I like having a caller who can keep things moving if we get stalled. Also, it would be cool for dungeon exploration to have someone willing to map from descriptions... (and you probably want to start in dungeons, wilderness encounters are dangerous...).

I would like to play, but once school starts I would likely only chime in once or twice a week. I have four kids in K-8th grade this year and I start work part time when school starts so I won't have much time. So I would not be able to be one of the several times a week people. But if you start a game, maybe other people will join after summer is over.

How often would you want me to update the map (and will someone be willing to take it over when I stop). Are you going to roll up several characters and have or pick one or something else. Also if there is only few of us, would we possibly run more than one character or have hirelings? |

It is a good thing if they understand the suggestions and the effects of changing them. |

What I have done in the past is roll up a set of attributes for players (hey you can actually read the rules such that the GM DOES roll attributes...), and then let you pick race and class based on them. |

Ok,no prob, I can always play a fighter no matter the stats if we arnt using ability modifiers. But i think I only need a 9 Int to make a wiz, which would be kinda cool.

Ok, who is actively interested in playing and what do you expect your posting ability would be? I want to understand if we can kick this off...
I'd appreciate it if folks who are not actively interested would refrain from posting for a day or two so I can easily see the interest level...

It would not be fair to the several players. One big OSR regret I have is that I crapped out of a few games including Frank's game about two years ago. |

See my post above I usually check in at least once a day almost all days. Also as mentioned I am here until mid August. I am not crazy about trying to map on-line, I am not sure how that will work vs how it does at a table. I am also not sure how often I could post updates.

I already have a CSIO/Map 1 centered campaign, so I think I'd like to set this one somewhere else. If you want to wait a bit, if folks want to give an idea of what sort of region in a setting you'd like to explore, we can work something out (though note that as 1st level PCs, wilderness travel will be dangerous...).
