"Yulgit are you up for another try at the door as suggested?" said Gory Flory.

In exploration turn 4, our frustrated heroes once again try to force the door. surely it will work this time with the combined might of gory flory, zipper, and the dwarfs!
The referee rolls (1d6=?), but after a good ten minutes of banging away at the darn thing it still won't budge. The referee grins in amusement.

The referee rolls (1d6=?), but after a good ten minutes of banging away at the darn thing it still won't budge. The referee grins in amusement. " What do you guys think? I can only think of one thing to try at this point before we go somewhere else. Is there any trace of anything on the door that would allow you to pull it towards us rather than pushing on it? Is there any trace of any type of thing on either wall that might trigger it to open. If there is we might want to duck first."

Mensa: "Think? Mensa think chopper it with lucky homemade chopper!" (He gleefully trots to the door. If there is anything which could be conceivably considered a handle or doorknob, he targets that first.)

Zipper shakes his head and steps back, careful to stay clear of the dwarfling with the axe, whom he watches with interest to see how it goes. Speaking to Gory Flory, and still shaking his head, “With no hinges out here, the door should open in, but...” And then musing aloud, “I wonder if all the doors down here are like this?”

Zu-Zu!! watches the maniacal dwarfling attack the door with power and fury, she can imagine him getting stronger with each swing of the axe.

Replying to Zipper she says with a wink, " If they are, we should eventually run into the dead bodies of all those who have died of sheer frustration!" Then she continues, " Well this will surely draw something to us so we had better help Zu-ZU!! watch our backs and be ready for anything". OOC: Lets slow down and wait for Yulgit's alter ego to catch up with us.

Growing fidgety, Zipper heeds Gory Flory’s words, and exchanges his dagger for his spiffy new bow. He sighs and mumbles a cuss under his breath as he turns from Mensa’s hews at the door to watch out for any badlings that might approach from behind.

Mensa begins to chop through the door. The referee dices to determine if anything has heard him (1d6=1!) The referee rolls on the first level wandering monster tables (1d12=6), and rolls again to determine the number appearing (1d4+1=5). The referee determines that they will be coming from the south, and at (2d6 = 100 feet) you can hear them coming before you see them. The referee rolls to determine that neither party was surprised (which makes sense considering they could hear the chopping, and the characters had gaurds posted).
The shuffle of feet and clink of glass and steel can be heard in the distance, from the corridor to the south. "Ahoy, who goes thar?" growls a rough voice from the darkness.

Zipper stands with bow aimed and arrow nocked, but hoping to Hel there’s a way out of this mess without coming to blows.
He steals a quick glance to see if Mensa’s made any progress on the door, then surveys the party and figures Gory Flory might have the best chance at a successful parley (he looks at her and wonders what she’s thinking), or maybe Yulgin. What’s that one up to anyway?
If it comes to a fight, he hopes Zu-Zu’s magic is up to the task.

Gory Flory sighs very quietly and says, "Zipper and Yulgit, get ready this could be another adventuring party or something else, Zu-Zu!! be at the ready! We got a little bit before they get here." Then she turns to Mensa, "Mensa, here at the ready, company's coming and they may not be friendly!! We need you now, the door can wait!!
OOC: The Red Baron should we continue without Vile Traveller here to play his character?

The party hold their ground and waits to see what transpires. Down the hallway come a group of swaggering seadogs, (with peglegs, eyepatches, hook-hands, and the whole shebang).
The halt just about at the edge of your torchlight. The referee decides that they are more likely selfish than chaos, and rolls for reaction (2d6=7).
"Avast! Quit that racket ye scurvy dogs! Me maties'n'i'd like'ta ken why ye be scroungin'town in these here pits - I'd every right ta keelhaul ya!" says one with a rattle of his saber.

Gory Flory, seeing the Mensa is at least somewhat focused on the newcomers, moves forward with her Mace and Shield and takes up a position three abreast with Yulgit and Zipper (there should be room for three abreast). She calls out, "Who's askin'? And why are you down here when it comes ta that?

ZU-Zu!! turns her attention to Mensa, "Mensa, come join me, things might be getting interesting!" She then turns back and gets ready to cast her spell given an opening and reason to do so. Both her staff and Gory Flory's staff lean against the wall a little way back.

Zipper holds steady, waiting for the pirates’ reply to Gory Flory’s question. He wonders how he’d look with an earring and an eye patch, then chases away the thought.

Zipper sighs and responds to the pirates, trying to feel them out a bit more, “It sounds like you’re servants. Thought you’d be men after my own heart.”
Then, turning to whisper to Gory Flory, Zu-Zu, and the others: “Should we ask if any of them want to consider working with us instead—??”

Zipper I am for making the offer, it will help sort out their intentions and if we have to fight so be it. I don't really want them following us and hitting us after we battle some monster."
