I think you took too many mustering out rolls...

I think you took too many mustering out rolls... Yeah, I think Frank is correct about the rolls. By my calculation, the Army General gets 10 (max of 3 on cash table) mustering out rolls. She gets a +1 DM on her benefit rolls because she's a General and because she has Gambling also gets a +1 DM on the cash rolls, but only 10 rolls, not 14. The Merchant Captain gets 11 rolls, that one I think you got right. I want to add, that if you play Raven she won't get a Free Trader free and clear, but she would get a partial ownership interest the ship you are travelling on...it's going to be a 400 ton Fat Trader. The ship is owned by Black Jack Miller who'll be "Owner Aboard", but Raven would be qualified to be the ship's Captain and could easily have a quarter, or a third interest in the ship.

I've always read the rules that you at most get 2 more mustering out rolls than terms (which is what the example for Captain Jaimeson shows).

I've always read the rules that you at most get 2 more mustering out rolls than terms (which is what the example for Captain Jaimeson shows). You're right about the example in the book, but here's the section from Book 1, 2nd edition. It looks like 1 per term, plus a max of 3 depending on rank. It might vary from edition to edition, though.

Per the 1982 GDW book, Muster-out Benefits are 1 unit per term of service plus 1 unit if rank 1 or 2, or plus 2 units if Rank 3 or 4, or plus 3 units if rank 5 or 6. I see this was already posted in more detail.

Marci (is that right?), these are both good characters. You're going to need to choose one because the game is filling up. Personally, I'm partial to Captain Firestorm, but it's your choice, not mine, which one you want to play. So, let me know which you want and I'll put your choice in the Cast of Characters thread, okay? Eris

erisred, I will work on getting my gear together, please pick a home world for me a long way from where we are, a very long way. Medium Tech, Normal. Raven is a tall wiry woman, whose intense training regimen makes her much more dangerous than she appears. I would like to add Brawling and Dagger if I could. She is about 5'9" and is deceptively heavy for her looks. Jet-black hair cut short just to the collar with brilliant blue eyes and regular features that appear a bit harder than they should and the hint of violence surrounds her/hovers over her. Her merchant days have led her a long way from home and she has no plans nor desire to go back. There is nothing there that she wants to be reminded of. She has no patience with the lazy or the incompetent and no tolerance at all for cowards. Also if you can suggest any items for gear that would be great.

Just a thought: Peng (34) must prefer older women, because he just called Raven (54) "hot stuff" in the current scene.

I don't think Ha'penny has a preference, beyond is she breathing and I'm not sure about that! Naw. Peng's laziness informs all aspects of his life. He much prefers lively, active partners. He likes to lie back and enjoy the view, while they do most of the work.

Now is this Ha'penny or is this the real you, that you are talking about? When it storms, do you worry about someone dropping a house on you?

Be afraid, be very afraid! Hee hee hee. That might well be the case for Doc! Being a student of human nature, he'll likely find her fascinating. In an affable, respectful way, of course.

Now is this Ha'penny or is this the real you, that you are talking about? When it storms, do you worry about someone dropping a house on you? Let me know if you decide he is going too far. But as long as you are OK, I'm OK. Adult interplay within reason is fine, but I draw the line at harassment and you will have to let me know if you think that line is crossed. Also raikenclw, this does not mean that you are in any trouble, it does mean that I expect you to make good judgement of where the line is between mutually agreed byplay and jumping the shark. I also expect that Mighty Darci "creative and witty replies" will not go too far either. I'm expecting that we can all just enjoy the show.

Admin Pete, point taken, I am enjoying the ongoing dialogue and I am sure that if I tell raikenclw to tone it down he will. As I expect him to tell me if one of my jabs hits too close to home.

I've been keeping an eye on things. If anyone goes too far tell them, and tell me, and we'll deal with it. As a rule, though, I don't mind a bit of "banter" between characters, as long as it's mutually agreed to.

I learned years ago to keep myself and my PCs quite separate. There is of course an element of me in Peng - he tends to drift along the path of least resistance and only rarely tries to fight against the current, just as do I - but only an element. Most of Peng is composed of snippets taken from other characters I've encountered, largely in novels but also in non-fiction.

NOTE: Not quite sure what to make of the "someone dropping a house on you" comment. Are you comparing Peng to the witch that Dorothy's house lands on?

Most of Peng is composed of snippets taken from other characters I've encountered, largely in novels but also in non-fiction. And from real life. My college gaming group included a local 16 year old who held the monopoly on the marijuana trade at the local high school and also dabbled in illegal firearms. He showed up to game one night with a bowling bag, from which he produced a dozen handguns of various makes [all with the serial numbers filed off]. When he got no takers, he commented, "If these are too bland for you, I can get Mini Uzis on 24 hours notice."
