Might have someone edit the title of the thread to encourage reading the most recent posts. Plus if the players post in the thread also it will keep it showing active when people login which will encourage eyeballs.

Perhaps you might go back through the last few pages of the "Introductions" thread, pick out the handles of those who've recently joined and send them a group PM about this game? Trying to help a FB friend of mine get his interface to work with tap talk so he can join our game. |

Seems like it, TPD was planning on restarting his until he left. I messaged one of the other Refs but he hasn't posted to my best knowledge. Depending how things go with the upcoming one goes I might run another if any interest bubbles up.

How is your friend doing with the tap talk access? He had to pull out temporarily as he is dealing with family issues, he'll need to be the one to broach them once he becomes active if he desires. He wants to play but since I know the situation I understand him pulling out as the issues are life changing. I think he agreed to play out of a desire to do so and put his issues out of mind, but couldn't. |

[This is a cross-post of my recent Village Market post . . .] Hey All, Since the two games I'm in here seem to be on hiatus (one officially and one unofficially), I thought I might see if there is any interest in a game run by myself. My game would use the Cepheus Engine system, which is basically a rationalized version of Classic Traveller [roll 2d6, add/subtract die modifiers and hope for 8+]. As with CT, character advancement will pretty much be a non-issue; while there exist rules to increase your total skill levels, it is quite difficult and game-time intensive. Basically, everything your PC will need to know he/she will have learned during a pre-game career. However, I do plan to tweak the skill list to make several skills broader (making the few skill levels you get much more useful) as well as offer skills more attuned to roleplaying than the basic CE rules tend to be. I also want to introduce the concept of Bennies (which can be spent to make re-rolls), Hindrances (limitations which can be roleplayed to generate more Bennies) and Edges (special abilities paid for by accepting a compensating Hindrance). Finally, since this is play-by-post and nobody wants to play a character whom they don't love, the only random element of character generation will be each PC's mustering out benefits (which I will generate in consultation with each player). Oh! I almost forgot! The adventure I intend to run is "High And Dry," published by Mongoose Traveller for their 2nd edition version of Traveller rules. I have participated in this adventure as a player and found it quite in the spirit of classic Traveller adventures. The opening for it (as written) is a bit weak, but I think running it as a play-by-post will go far toward fixing that. Introduction of the player characters to one another will make for a fine opening scene. I think the blurb on DriveThruRPG describes the adventure fairly well: "In 'High And Dry' the Travellers are given a ship in which they can explore the galaxy for the rest of the campaign – the only catch is that they have to find it first. Travelling to the quiet world of Walston, the Travellers will have to engage with the locals, locate their ship and repair it before they can return home. However, the ship has been left in the crater of a volcano, and there have been tremors rocking the surrounding area for quite some time. High and Dry is the perfect introductory adventure for Traveller, full of exploration, character interaction and a truly explosive finale!" Thoughts? While I am not interested in playing in a play by post, I've never played Traveller and I have greatly enjoyed following along with the Traveller pbp. Thanks, you're welcome and just wait! I think it's going to get even more interesting.  Edit: If anyone IS interested in playing in the Exploring Mantan game this would be a good time to talk to me about it, too. The current crew of Clear Sails is being offered an exchange of that ship for a very well armed Q-ship to sniff out and hurt (if not destroy) a network of pirates and slavers in the unexplored Mantan sub-sector. Some of the current players are going to run two PC's, one for shipboard and one for boarding/ground actions...some probably won't as they don't want to do that. IAC, we could probably take on a few combat monkeys as well as one or two more crew. If you're interested give me a shout. |
