How much traveller have you run compared to d&d? A small percentage or is it more 50/50? How many of you have used our galaxy or made your own?

How much traveller have you run compared to d&d? A small percentage or is it more 50/50? How many of you have used our galaxy or made your own? I have never run Traveller; however, since it has been broached on the forum I am quite interested and am reading the posts in all areas of the forum with great interest. I also started a subsector of my own down here. I intend to get back to it (and a number of other projects) when and if I get some breathing room.

In my first phase of gaming (from birth until I graduated from High School in '84) I played a ton of games. All kinds of games. SPI and AH wargames, SFB. numerous RPGs. Traveller was definitely played. We played an ALIEN sequel before there was ALIENS. The xenomorphs were bio-weapons released by a conquering alien race that was never seen or suspected. It was tons of fun...

For some details -- The PCs were StarSoldiers (I played the SPI game of the same name, so it stuck). They went to planets that supposedly were attacked by xenomorphs. They either looked through the wreckage, rescued survivors, and fought off Alien hordes. When the job was done there was always a distress call from another planet.
WE did not play the game long enough to realize another alien race was putting the eggs on the worlds to be destroyed nor long enough to have earth be attacked.
Also this was before ALIENS so the idea of a queen never occurred to us -- the creatures eventually died when they were no longer hunting.

In High School, we played mostly D&D, but my friend and I did hours and hours of High Guard ship designs and fleet battles. In university, our once/week D&D club had one Traveller night each month, and I was the GM. Good times on a rogue tramp freighter. After university, Traveller dried up except for minor resurgences here and there. So probably about 90%D&D/10% Trav

I ran one heavily modified long Traveller campaign and various other shorter games. Very little has strictly Traveller but then very little of the D&D has strictly been D&D.
Probably 5-10% SF and 90% fantasy with some Champions and Top Secret thrown in.

I Love Classic Traveller. I played about 1 Traveller game for every 15 D&D game. We also used the GURPS rules for a year long game using the Trav universe, It was a mercenary game. It was set on a balkenized world of Solomani. with tech from 1820-1960.

From 1977 to 1991, I ran more Traveller than fantasy RPG.

In the 1970's - 70/30 Fantasy RPGs / Traveller, although there was a time in high school I ran a Traveller game at least bi-weekly four four months straight.
In the 1980's it was about 50/50 Fantasy RPGs / Traveller. I bought Star Frontiers in 1982, however never once played it. Poached a bunch of stuff out of it for my Traveller game though!
Since about 2000 Traveller has accounted for 20-25% of my gaming. It'll be one of the three games I run at GaryCon this next weekend.

Hmm, I guess after more than a year, I'm due an update here... I've been running several campaigns in my Wine Dark Rift setting: www.mindspring.com/~ffilz/Gaming/winedark.htmlI ran some live play using Google Hangouts and Roll20, and have a couple play by posts running (plus a collapsed play by post here). Play-wise, I had been playing in a Google Hangouts/Roll20 Classic Traveller game, but just dropped out due to not quite meshing with the GM. I'm also in a few play by post games (with one of them being Mongoose Traveller 2e). Frank
