How do you all take notes--I mean, physically? Typing, ballpoint pen, fountain pen? Loose paper, in a notebook? Pencil on a napkin?
I ask because I find that I have different modes of note taking depending on what I'm doing.
If I'm going to present it to someone, I probably type it. That is, my first "draft" is typed.
If it's straight creative process, I like to write it with a pen in a notebook, scribbling out and rewriting as I go. Later, I can type it up, but only once it's "cooled" and taken solid shape.
Exceptional: almost everything I've ever done on here I've typed directly into the site.

I do a mix very similar to you, hengest. I've found that what works for me is to have a small notebook at the ready in case I get inspired and don't want to loose my thoughts. I give up on those flimsy card stock covered notebooks you can find most anywhere on the cheap. I buy the $4 - $6 hardbound notebooks that are basically something like 4 in by 3 in. Whatever size they are, they fit into my safety best pocket at work so I can jot down information whenever I find the opportunity. The ones pictured below aren't exactly the ones I use but they will demonstrate what I'm talking about.

I've found notebooks similar to these for reasonable prices at Amazon, Temu, Office Depot, and Wal-Mart. I don't recommend buying from a big chain bookstore unless you want to pay Moleskin prices ($19.99 for one) versus something more reasonable ($4-$6 for 1, $9=$12 for a pack of 3, $24.98 for a dozen, etc.).

Good notebook and good system, SRG! I usually use the cardstock ones, but I may try a pack of these pocket guys.

I usually type directly into the site, then edit it. Create the post and then look for and edit any other typos I missed, look at it a year later and realize I typed their and meant there. For straight creative writing, I used to write it out, but now that hurts my hands to much so I type it into Notepad and then edit it from there.

College rule is hard to find these days, almost the only thing for sale is wide rule. I would buy narrow rule if I could find it.

I just like the convenience of having the small one on me at work so I can jot down notes in an instant. College rule is ALWAYS preferable.
