I copied this thread idea from odd74. In their poll OD&D is getting less than 50% of the vote as of right now. As the more old school board of the two, I think we can do much better. Oh and our poll is more complete.

I am voting for OD&D of course, it is far superior to any other version.

OD&D is open ended and has no bumpers. The function of bumpers in a bowling alley is very simple. Bumpers are used to block the gutters of a bowling lane so that a bowling ball cannot be rolled into the gutters, which will result in a gutter ball that doesn't knock over any pins. That is what all the versions and all the players that talk about "balance" are really talking about, they want bumpers, so they can't lose and can't die. 5E is all bumpers, all the time.

Been playing OD&D for 48 years and have yet to find anything else worth giving any time to.

B/X was my first game followed by 1E. I love them all with the exception of 4E which I have no play or DM familiarity with.

B/X is a GREAT game BUT after working with OD&D (and Delving Deeper) I have come to appreciate and understand how "less is more" when it comes to the rules.

I'm just surprised how easily I just fell into creating material with Delving Deeper.
