Am interested in this notion, although I guess it rarely comes up.
Shared world, two DMs.
Easiest version, I suppose, just has them taking turns, perhaps even playing while the other one refs.
A more complex version would have two DMs in different places reffing for different groups and sharing information with each other. The "other half" of the campaign would generate events and rumors that would drift into "your half."
I'm sure this kind of thing has bene tried many times.

My last campaign became a shared world as my one friend took a turn reffing in my world for about 6 months. After playing in it for a couple of years, he thought he could pull it off and did. All the same players and same characters and he just continued where I left off and then I picked it back up where he left off.

Very limited but a few, no more than single games
The ones I ran
lets see the first one I ran was me and my BFF, a preplaned game of Toon w the entire group being versions of Ren and Stimpy(about 4-6 pairs) it was run 8 oclock Sunday morning of the con on purpose. Kieth and I pounded like 4 expressos each at about 7 and had a large box of trash bags, The bags were given out as ponchos and the group was given a hand out that had a song that Mounty Ren and Stimpy sang. We would get the players to march around the convention center(Baltimore,e inner harbor, about 2 years after the mountie ep was aired.)As they marched around the con center We made them sing the mountie song, over the course of the 4 hour time slot we prob marched them around about 10 times. It is totally as wild as it sounds

Yes, I switched over to playing while he reffed, a paladin as I recall.

This one is pretty good
I wrote and ran a game w 4 groups and 6ish DMs plus assistants. The whole game was a platoon of mercenary do gooders battling an evil corps ccomputer satalighyt. The Base was a pyrammid that had a bunch of individual moduals that were room sized and moved consstantly There was a commanding Maj a psy and a couple of net runners plus like 35 wariorrs.4 dms for the squads and then one each for the psi and netrunners We were all in one big room at the conabout 50 ish players. As the moduals moved arond the swpt warriors around and the squads were constabntly changibg. We only ran this once and it came off like clock work I.ll bet none of the players ever forget the game. As cool sounds.
