I'm sure most everyone here knows about The Perrin Conventions. If not, they are house rules for early D&D presented by Steve Perrin. This work would directly lead to RuneQuest. I know they were included in the appendix of All The World's Monsters but I found them preserved in a separate document by following the link at the Steve Perrin wikipedia entry. If nothing else, they are a historical curiosity that others might enjoy having a copy to read. perrin-conventions 1.pdf (56.53 KB)

I really should go through them point by point and post about them. I will work at getting motivated to do that.

I hear there's talk of an updated version that's in development. I don't know exactly what's going to be updated but it may include annotations about new thoughts and developments.

Looking through these it reminds me of 2nd Ed AD&D except it does not divide the melee round my as much. To me this is just too fiddly to fool with, it looks to me like it would slow things down too much, but YMMV.
