I haven't watched a movie since before the bug came around. Although looking through various posted links from youtube, I may start there.

I went into PREY last night expecting another meh entry in the aging and ailing Predator franchise. I was pleasantly surprised by an entertaining film that was much better than the last several entries. It's a shame it was released on Hulu when it could have potentially done really well in the theatres.

I am not likely to subscribe to Hulu to see one movie. Making a woman a Indian warrior is a shark jump historically, but from the trailer it looks like they play it straight from there and it is a sci fi movie, so no big deal. Besides I like to see more women characters in movies.

The good news is that if you decide to take the plunge, you can subscribe for $6.99 for one month and cancel it; that's cheaper than the theatre. That's the ad supported version, but I honestly don't remember having maybe 2 commercial breaks. She has some skills, but she is not an accepted warrior in the tribe. She does do some tracking. I thought they handled it really well. The movie was focused on the story instead of any sort of agenda.

I just watched the 1986 remake of the 1953 Invaders from Mars film. I didn't realize it was a remake while I was watching it, but it had an "old time" feel to the film and I kept thinking I had seen it before at certain points. When I searched for the trailer, the trailer for the original 1953 version came up and that's when I realized that I had seen the original. My mom owned it on Laser Disc! Remember those? In addition to the trailer, the original movie is also available. I may watch it as well.

I just watched HORROR EXPRESS. It's been sitting in my Shudder list for months and I finally got around to watching it this morning. It has Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, and Telly Savalas in it so a great cast. I enjoyed it.

This
Not bad but I know it got panned for cost and because it's simply a gratuitous action movie.

Pure camp, I love it. I am used to seeing Robert Urich, play bad guys, so this will be a change of pace.

"The Lost Weekend" from 1945. About a man who suffers from alcoholism.
Really not bad at all. No surprises, but Ray Milland's performance is actually pretty memorable. I enjoyed it just for him.

I've been working a lot of overtime recently, so I was out of the loop on new shows. I turned on Netflix today and found out that Cobra Kai season 5 just started. I'll be catching up this weekend.

I just started THE OLD WAYS, a movie about messing with things "man was not meant to know" and it's sufficiently creepy and dreadful so far.

They were a lot of fun, shame that Kevin Bacon did not stay with the franchise. Agreed! I still like the rumors suggesting he may play the new Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot. If they really leaned into the psychological horror aspect and took advantage of his gravitas with a really good script, then it could redefine horror. Get rid of the cheese and just use appropriate gore when it's necessary and you got a homerun.
